After creating a thread to discuss these ideas, they are now implemented.

1) The research conducted at each race is more clearly explained and displayed on the Cars page, right alongside design points.

2) A new Research Dialog has been added to the Cars page, showing the performance level of your team vs the best teams in the league.

3) Research now analyses each individual area where any team is stronger than your team, and earns a portion of the difference in that particular area. The gains are based on the power of your research, determined by the Research star rating on the Cars page.

4) The wording of the Technical Director report after each race has been improved. The wording no longer says who is the "best" team, but rather who has the "most developed" car (most design points assigned). As having the most design points doesn't necessarily mean a car is the best, this should avoid any confusion when on-track performance differs from the report.

5) The "Research" HQ is now renamed to the "Technology" HQ, to avoid confusion between the two features

Would be a report about points gained on specific areas ? it might be useful;)

Thanks in advance

looks nice so far. Maybe you could display multiple team names, if more than one team has most developed car in one category.

Oh and i just noticed, that this information is also helpful for your strategy im compare to other cars :o)

edit:
in The Mjl pro, this information looks quite empty:

Martin, a dash "-" is shown when there is no outright best team, but multiple teams are equally the best in that area. I don't think it would be possible to list all the teams in the small region of space available.

maybe you could create a tooltip, if you hover above one of those lines.

I'm not getting the little arrows showing where the other teams are - I'm getting the name of the best team, but not indication of their level as is suggested by the key, and shown very clearly in the screen capture above. Any ideas what I can do to see it?

only thing i would like to see is where other teams are on their research forays compared to yours, for example if you have a substantial advantage in reliability and the next nearest team is 30 points away, i would like to see another arrow in a different color that shows how the other nearest team has assigned their points. the best team key doesn't provide any useful detail in the same way the previous email didn't provide any clear key on who has the best car either.

Try doing a hard refresh (CTRL+F5). If that doesn't work, what browser are you using? Maybe it's a browser-specific issue that I can look in to.

2Points will be applied to the researched area from now on or are they still used anywhere you want?

Thanks for that feature, let's test it now.

Points will be automatically applied to all areas, closing the gap in each area by the same rate the "overall design point gap" was closed before. As I said when I proposed the idea initially, I can add further twists on this in future such as limiting it to certain areas of design or certain teams.

But already this improvement over the scattershot approach of the first version of the system is going to improve the racing quite a bit hopefully.

My impression after a race in my league is that using the same calculation from the previous version (which was used to catch up with the overall DP total) makes this a little overpowered. The gains feel a bit too fast when combining the effects across all teams/all areas. It's very easy to tweak from here though, just one value can be adjusted to change it totally in seconds.

May i quote myself?

Martin

as i mentioned above i would limit the the spying to one team per race. So you can decide if you want to spy this parts or that parts. This would make it a lot more difficult to catch up, but it wouldnt be impossible. i have the feeling, that if you spy every teams at the same time, to much additional design points were given and the cars gets to fast about the same attributes.

The "perfect" car is 800points +3 bonus points, no car should ever be perfect.
Limit the max amount of points used to build a car to 699 or 709 so that there is always something lacking in the car.
We build the cars the way we think is best or get some high fluting AI.
The CD & TD work together to automatically spend the design points to build their ideal car and we have no say in it we just hire the staff to do it lol

yes too many points and not enough ability to build the car we want vs the car everybody else has.
Say I want to build a Rednote style car with good power, but not great, and very good fuel econ and tyre econ. My measly 10 points from my CD is overwhelmed by the points automatically put in by the game and I can't build the car I want. Even hiring the CD to help will only change one area and only at the start of a season.

Jack, looks promising, it has to be an improvement over the previous version of spying / dp allocation. It's the last race of the season in MJL tomorrow so we can test it properly starting next season.
Thanks

Too soon to make changes we need a new season start to see how it works in my opinion;)

It should definitely prevent the kind of thing that was happening to Kevin last two seasons but once it is in place for more than one season every car will be the same. Car design management is out the window.

Leslie my guy's have built me a Red Bull

Good acceleration & cornering with a low top speed.
Average fuel economy.
Lots of overheating in the engine and brakes with a few reliability problems
The car works best on prime selection of tyres.

Now anybody!
How do we turn off spying so that they don't mess up my car by putting 100 in everything?
