This has been going on since the beta days. That estimated laps always comes up lower than you are doing, will it ever be right or do we just have to put up with it?

Does it do this after you've run a practice lap? Or before?

The fuel is lots higher before doing anything Jack, then after you do the tests and go back in it's just a matter of putting in the correct fuel and then it tells you lap short.

From observation it seems to work out estimated laps based on practice fuel consumption. So if you practice on high push then fuel the car for a lower push the estimated laps are reported as short because it assumes that you're going to run the entire race at the same push level as practice.
I have found that if you practice at PL1 the estimated laps are ususually reported correctly.
Also, in the above example it may be that viewing each stint would indicate 15.9, 13.9. 13.9. 13.9 but it rounds down at overall strategy view.

All my test runs where done on Neutral nothing to do with me that soft was 2.36 and medium was 2.33 and last run 2.34 and even using 2.4 instead of 2.3 per lap it is still not enough for the estimated laps to come out perfect.

Currently before doing test runs for the next race 24 and 25 litres are both equal to 11 laps, in my team history my fuel usage was 26 litres to do 11 laps at 2.3 and that is currently estimated at 12 laps.

Now you can see the problem my fuel is 2.2x11=24.2 means i select 25 litres and I will be in as 10 laps not 11

Keep it simple 2.2x15=33 so we add 34 so we not pit 1 lap early

The difference in your training runs are due to the times, quicker laps need more fuel for some reason.

I noticed those estimates were a bit on the high side but I didn't mind because I tend to give a bit of reserve for the first stint anyway and set the others based on how I can run in the race. I'm not (yet) optimising it to the nearest litre.

The estimate don't change with tyres, maybe it calculates it so that you could do the stint in any case like fitting super soft and it works out even if you decide to switch to very high push in the race (and for some inexplicable reason can pull it off and get all faster lap times). Which should mean those estimates shouldn't change when setting very high in strategy, or even run training laps with it, either.

If it where up to me I would remove fuel from both setup & strategy then give the cars a set amount of laps instead of estimated laps, Yes everyone will be over fuelled but at lest we would all be equal. remove fuel usage from race viewer too will be sure to keep it equal so attending managers cant work out they can run with less fuel lol

I don't think this estimate changes at all. What I guessed was that with very high push level and super soft tyres the fuel consumption of a practice lap may come close to the one those estimated number of laps are based on. Thus this estimate is kind of worst case scenario (though worst case might be the wrong term if it describes a stint doing close to the quickest laps possible).

Calculating the fuel load to ensure you pit or finish the race with less than a litre remaining is an art. It's also a big risk, if you get it wrong it can cost you a lot of positions / championship points. It's all part of the game and I for one would not like to see it changed.

Then do it the other way around remove the estimated laps since it is always under lapping

I waiting expecting someone to say if you had fuel and tyre economy balance it might correct it's self but it doesn't 50/50 or 100/100 still never pans out, if do 1 stop 2laps short if 5stops, 6laps short. There is just no getting away from it.

Litres = laps
1 = 0.5
2 = 1.0
3 = 1.5
4 = 2.1 +0.6 what happened to the +0.5 is this the problem??
5 = 2.6 back to +0.5

11 = 5.7 changed to 0.6 now
12 = 6.2 changed back to 0.5

18 = 9.3 +0.6 again
19 = 9.8 back to +0.5
-
25 = 12.9 +0.6 again
26 = 13.4 back to +0.5
-
32 = 16.5 +0.6 again
33 = 17.0 back to 0.5

looks like a rounding up issue. 4 laps takes 2.1L divide that by 4 and you get 0.525L per lap.
lap 1= 0.525L (0.5)
lap 2 = 1.05L (1.0)
lap 3= 1.575L (1.5)
lap 4 = 2.1L (2.1)

As your example above the estimate is 15.7 laps (15) not 16 - it is an estimate after all, but really should be rounding up to 16.

If I remember correctly the estimated fuel consumption in old iGP was also inaccurate and I find the new version to be more accurate than old.
Do one practice lap with each driver at the PL you believe you will use for the race, take note of the cosumption and multiply this by the number of laps you want to do. Either round it up to the next full litre if you're feeling brave or round it up to the next full litre and add another litre if you want to be "risk averse" LOL.
E.g. Practice at PL2 (if this is what you think you will race at) = 2.37 litre/lap and you want to fuel for 10 laps...
High risk strategy... 10 x 2.37 = 23.7 so round up to = 24 litres
Low risk strategy... 10 x 2.37 = 23.7 round up to 24 then add a litre = 25 litres (gives you a bit in hand if you run a higher PL)
Ignore the estimated laps value on the strategy page because that's all it is... an estimate.
The reason that nobody complains is that it isn't really a problem. I very rarely see a manager in elite tier get it wrong. For anyone new to the game they will probably mis-fuel a couple of times in their first season (I certainly did when I first started playing iGP) and by season 2 they will have worked it out.

Estimated laps 14.7, you didn't make 15 laps, so the estimate is inaccurate? If you ran out of fuel 0.3 of a lap before you pitted surely the estimate was exceptionally accurate? You know how much the estimate is usually out by, you have a calculator on your computer/phone. You've played this game for a very long time, I'm not sure why you'd consider looking at an estimate which is only there to give a clue to brand new players for the first couple of races they do, until they realise it's not accurate enough beyond the lowest level.

Alex that is the whole point, someone setting the car up with estimated laps would be using 15.7 for med or hard tyres, they would select 15.2 for super or soft It's there to make it easier but it's far from right. It's hardly fair that they have to carry 16 laps of fuel in order to do 15 laps just because they are on their phone and cant use a calculator
