To avoid going OT in the Adding CDs and TDs to the market thread I forked this into a new thread:

Or cooling needs to have more impact, if cooling saves engine as i think, it's not making that big difference. What if high cooling means you can use your engine for 3 races. There is one way to save money and be able to have a good engine for more races.
Has cooling have any impact during the race? I think it has no effect during the race, well, that could be another benefit from cooling.

(from now on i'm dreaming for the future)
what if engine temp is treated as tyre temp. you push, your engine gets hot, you lose speed. you have better cooling, you can push harder and your engine will be ok.

I don't know how much effect engine wear has but I noticed that most races I didn't win in rookie last season were races I used the engine for a second race. As a long shot guess I for now assume 10% engine wear equals about 5-10 seconds in a 50% race. If that's remotely true it's not much but something to be aware of, but not important enough to let me rate cooling as something important to manually spend points on.

From a manager game point of view I'd like some choice between different engine ECU mappings like the racing games I used to play had. Offering choice between more power but being harder on the (rear) tyres, more fuel consumption, more engine and car wear and as you said more heat. Given the temperature on the track, your cooling stats, the current push level and perhaps the chosen cooling duct (more cooling vs drag) the engine runs too hot resulting in greatly increased wear up to complete engine failure.

But since I heard that setup was somewhat dumbed down from the old version already, to appeal to more players perhaps, your suggestion might fit in better without making things more complicated. Perhaps the effects of engine wear could be raised a bit as well and the plans to match wear with 100% races would improve the importance of this stat on shorter race leagues as well. At least for managers that don't want to use their tokens on engines and therefore have to use them twice on average.
