Interesting idea James, would be interesting to see what the comparison would be from what we have now compared to f1 2016. Would be kind of interesting to try out if it actually worked like the f1 game did. I feel as though people who actually practice and qualify and actually play should get a slight bonus over the guys who don't do anything. I'm not saying to do an exact copy of f1 2016, but something similar would be interesting to see.

From what i have seen with f1 2016 spending points on middle weight reduction section, is a good way to mess up your car setup and waste your R&D points. I'm not saying Braking, Cooling, Reliability & Trye Economy are useless here it depends a lot on your choice of tyres. They help a lot with softer compounds and make it hard to get harder compounds to work optimally.

Never ever take the drivers setup from here and transfer it to the game, it's like steering a bus, if you miss the braking point there no point in trying to turn lol

The R&D you do in F1 2016 if you select to enable your career driver, ever change you see done to the car in career mode you see it in online mode too if you play Realistic and not Equal.

Interesting idea, unfortunately I don't play F1 2016, just a bit of Dirt Rallye occasionally if I find the time. I'm a bit surprised that of all the stuff they could have chosen they took chassis weight. It isn't making that much sense in my view, if your driver isn't resembling Dwayne Johnson or Kevin James that is. :-)

Chassis weight may not seem like a big thing but if you can be lighter than the other guys irl than it can mean a lot as your engine doesn't have to work as hard to get you going and it can lead to faster speeds than other cars who have drivers who weigh the same but their car is heavier. Even the smallest things can make a huge difference

yay!!! finally get to use it.

more weight = more traction that's why people race snails, not slugs lol

More weight may equal more traction, but it also means less acceleration and worse braking. So while it may seem nice to be heavier I would rather be able to get from 0 to 60 to 0 faster than having more grip as I can handle not having as much grip. "Loose is fast and on the edge of control"

Indy car or nascar driver by any chance Brandon? "Loose is fast" long time since I heard that.

Reason I like weight
my downforce is 1 & 1 as low as it goes (easy steering)
ride-height 3 & 4 (high low level settings)
suspension rock-hard for acceleration 11 & 11 hard as it goes (even on bumpy tracks)
anti-roll 1 & 2 ultra-soft to allow the car to lean into the corners
brakes well balanced 70% pressure and 58 for even locking front and rear
tyre pressures you will find funny - front 21.0psi and rear 23.5psi (steering and acceleration)
diff settings accel on 100% accel off 85%
chamber and toe is a secret dont want people tyres lasting long like mine lol

Yeah James I'm American and I've driven a fair amount of nascar and indy sims. I enjoy f1 the most but I still really enjoy indycar, nascar, wec, and v8 supercars. The quote is from "Days of Thunder" with Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall

Downforce I usually run a 3f & 2r just so I get the turn in
Ride is almost always 3f & 3r as I am comfortable with that
Suspension is always a 9f & 9r just so that it takes some of the bumps a little smoother
Anti-roll usually at a 2f & 2r like you said for the lean
Brakes are similar to yours except I use 65 instead of 70%
Tyre Pressures are around 20f & 24r, may seem odd but I work with it well
Diff Settings are probably the same I usually don't mess with them a whole lot
Camber and Toe, everyone knows a "secret" for tyre wear, but only a few will remember what it is

remember stuff lol no hope.
They keep changing things around and the toe and camber they add numbers in to throw people off. Easiest way to find something is to fill the car with full fuel and go for a drive then keep changing one thing at a time to you get a feeling like the old game 100% diff for me, makes my short gear box from the past. 225mph with drs, 220 slip streaming and 218 on your own

Yes, but in F1 the weight is reglemented and after the last rise any manufacturer who don't have to cut corners because of budget should be able to meet it. So the only effect of lowering chassis weight would be the ability to use it elsewhere to make things stronger or place it as ballast where it benefits the car the most, but you won't have a lighter car.
