Hi everyone, we are going to be doing some work on tracks over the next week or two. I would like to know what issues currently exist with tracks.

Issues I am aware of:

  • Hungary T1 cars cut the corner
  • Turkey pit lane - cars pit on the S/F straight
  • Spain DRS sometimes activates a lap early

Please add anything you find to this thread (e.g. cars going off the circuit anywhere) and we will fix it during this next pass on the tracks. Thank you!

Jack, go get a good sleep, how did you forget about these too.

Singapore - cars drive over the roads above them, and over the top of the grandstand between turns 18 &19
Monaco - cars drive over the tunnel
Japan - cars drive over the track instead of under the track between turns 9 & 10
Abu Dhabi - cars drive over the track exiting the pitlane

seems ok depends how picky you are.

corner entries and exits cars are on the white lines of track limits, fine in the dry but might be dicey in the wet.
Widen the track?

I dont know if you can have layers or if the track image has to be flat. Just wee things cars driving over stuff that should be above them.
walkway/sponsor bridges around the track
Rooftops of pitwall stands in pitlane

Other than that looks fine

Not sure with me the only thing I can think of is maybe the Italian turn it wasn't a big thing it seemed to only affect me as the other person didn't have the cars driving off the track but it also registered them as on the track they raced like they were it was just weird since I couldn't tell where they were in relation to turns to use boost effectively.

Thanks James in particular for the detailed reports, this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. :)

We'll get all of these things addressed. Please keep them coming! :)

Can you do a layer system with the track images Jack?
I think it would be rather cool if you could, as it's a birds eye view anything that the cars are going below should cover them, that in monaco between turns 12 &13 the cars would be half covered by the trees.

China
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Grand_Prix#/media/File:Shanghai_International_Racing_Circuit_track_map.svg

Cars drive into and stop on the pitwall with two wheels.
Entry of turn 8 cars exceed track limits but take the corner fine.

Exit of turn 12 cars run wide over the kerb. (looks fine but I have been done for doing this lots of times in f1 2015 & 2016 and got a few 3 second penalties)

Drive over the arches across the track on start/finish straight.

We agree, and it's something we're looking in to addressing with updates. One reason it hasn't been done already is it may require us to create "two-layered" maps, which sounds fairly harmless, but could significantly increase the memory footprint for several reasons.

Perhaps as a compromise, layering the maps could be reserved only for the top graphical settings like "Best".

Better and best are basically the same, only better doesn't have the blending and fading elements

Turns 4, 6 & 13 excessive use of the kerbs

Entry to turn 12 exceed track limits but take the corner perfectly (cars run to far left before turning right)

Turn 14 the cars are not hitting the optimal apex of corner

Question about racing lines!

Do different talent drivers have or take different lines in corners?
Can picture Ricky's face & imagine him saying this "If you think I'm going to add 20 different racing lines for 32 different cars, you can think again"

Belgium

Les Combes Turns 7 and 8 could do with a tidy up cars look strange driving through there
Turn 15 excessive use of the kerbs
Exit of turn 20 drive through the wall
Pit lane crash into pit garages on entry and drive over the pit wall roofs, on exit they are driving over the wall on the right hand side.

Spain
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Grand_Prix#/media/File:Catalunya.svg

Exit turn 4 cars run wide over the kerb
Pitlane they drive over and stop on the pitwall
The chicane drew on map in the pitlane shouldn't be there, the cars are right in driving straight on there should be a link road drew in.

Turkey
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_Grand_Prix#/media/File:Istanbul_park.svg

Entry to turn 3 cars are a little too far over to the right
Entry to turn 4 cars are a little too far over to the left
Entry to turn 5 cars are a little too far over to the right
Turn 9 corner cutting
Exit of turn 11 cars are running a little wide
Exit of turn 14 cars are running a little wide

Pitlane you know about

Turn 5 exit running into turn 6 looks a little twitchy. Suggest forgetting apexs and set a line that makes the cars look smooth
