Just curious really.... I signed up a few months ago, and can't believe how seriously people take the game! A quick browse around the forum shows that many of the players seem to believe its real life, and their decisions actually mean something! I'm not a gamer, never have been (except in the late 80s, Mario on the NES was a weakness!), so I find the seriousness of it all a bit weird!

I played it for a while researching what else was out there when we made iGP, and I know what you're referring to; it can be a bit like a cult to some.

One of the more extreme examples of this occurred recently, when someone attempted to hack the iGP closed beta and post a link to GPRO in the comments (we caught them, stopped it, and reported them to their employer after tracking down who did it). Similar things happen on many of the publicity articles for the new iGP, with GPRO users spamming GPRO links in the comments and attempting to divert people to GPRO.

I have respect for the team behind GPRO, and believe they are good people, but there are some very strange aspects to the community.

Oh and the terrible fan base that is NOT made of kids like all stereotype them in fact I have a problem most with the adults who cant take them. ITS THEIR CHOICE WHAT GAME THEY PLAY SO KEEP HATING AND MOVE ALONG

The internet seems to draw a certain type of person.

i remember playing an online yrs ago, some of you might know it, Planetarion?

One particulare person, I knew him personally... he ended up taking it so seriously that it played a major part in the down fall of his marriage and job. He was getting up in the middle of night after he got text message from "alliance friends" to go down to work (he didnt have internet at home!) to logon and "defend his alliance".

I know of nights he spent the entire night in work "attacking and defending all his friends". It was quiet tragic really.

That was probably 2004 or 2005? I remember prob 2012 signing into the same IRC channel (i was checking something on an old PC before I destroyed it) and he was still there...

I tried to play GPRO, but the lack of an actual GUI to view the simulation and the confusing website UI only allowed me to visit the website once.

I tried GPRO lasted 3 days I didn't like it.
I used to play pitstopboss but they never got around to adding race days to the game. (shutdown now I think)
I played grandprixmangerpro for 4months it was ok some nice ideas in it but it shutdown.
I played F1Time for 8months it was ok once you got into the swing of it, very similar GPRO was maybe why I didn't like GPRO :D
There was something I tried few months ago but I cant remember the name of it that was how thrilling it was lol
Myracingcareer I still play on facebook it's not too bad.
I been here iGP a year so far & God willing I would love to stay

Its strange how people gravitate towards a type of game, and that either brings out the best or worst in people. As I said above, I'm not a gamer and feel its unlikely I'll ever be at the top of the leaderboard, and I'm fine with that. I do like a bit of banter, and if I had a criticism of igp it'd be the forums are way too quiet. That said, the users aren't the typical keyboard warriors so that's a bonus!

I agree, the forums on iGP are way too quiet. The reason for that I believe is that the league comments work so well for discussion, and friends stick together. Not just that, but the live race also serves as a chat room where a lot of discussion is hammered out. You can imagine if the chat and comments were taken away, the forum would probably have all that traffic instead.

I come from motor sports. I crossed a dozen year in karting in pilot, then about ten in professional. I played and I still play Gpro. The game is very realistic, but that do not please me any more because it is far too long (are needed one or 2 real years to go up a strategy long term), we play only very little over a week (1 hour max), and we cannot evolve his strategy during the race !!!!!!
I really prefer IGP, my only problem of realism with IGP being on the strategies tires following temperature and grip of the track etc... I have the impression all the same that we always get out of it better WITHOUT the hard tires and the medium... Or fuel is too heavy or stops pits are too fast etc. Damage... Maybe that in the beta version the problem will be adjusted ?
And I insist on grid girls, it is all the same an important point !!!!!!! :)... And by developing a little my ideas, images and videos around the games podia circuits etc. which give of the character to the game, more installations and developments, and my livery maybe ;)

Very true currently tyres are a slight bit under par but I think the real problem with the tyres is they are allowing for people that can't turn up for races to manage their tyres. If there was a more severe punishment in over heating tyres & they had a more severe speed change once they reached a certain amount of wear it would close the gap I think.

SS at 50% life = S speed - S at 40% life = M speed - M at 30% life = H speed - H at 20% life = I speed
SS at 40% life = M speed - S at 30% life = H speed - M at 20% life = I speed - H at 10% life = W speed
SS at 30% life = H speed - S at 20% life = I speed - M at 10% life = W speed
SS at 20% life = I speed - S at 10% life = W speed
SS at 10% life = W speed

But we can be sure Jack has things planned out already to make racing closer no matter what tyre is use :)
