Hi I’m just curious as to whether you have any plans to revamp the advanced settings as I’m continuously starting on the wrong tyre choice for qualifying and sometimes then a complete different tyre for the race itself when we have wet races

For example today one guy put wets If 3mm (nothing about inters) and started first stint SS but instead qualified on intermediates when he didn’t even set anything for intermediates....

Would love to know either a way to fix this or in fact a way to use it better as I’ve tried many different settings and none seem to work it’s almost random tyre compounds depending what the game chooses .... this is only when we have wet or dry/wet starts

Look forward to hearing your feedback on this.

Had exactly these issues with the tire selection and advanced settings for the race (same League as Tim) last night. Initially my strategy where set with wet tires, but shortly before race start, this was changed for a dry tire setup. Furthermore the advanced settings where set for full wet tires when conditions on the track were at 3mm.

Then in the qualifier my team qualified on Intermediate wets, so the set strategy were not used (or properly implemented) and neither could it be the advanced settings, as these contained full wets and not Intermediate wet tires. Found that very strange.

Then during the race this was a dry race until around approx. the last 8 laps. Changed to Intermediate wets manually for the first driver who after 1 lap automatically changes to full wets, even though it was indicated that it was only 2mm on track and the advanced settings were for full wets to be at 3 mm on track.

To add to the confusing and frustrating situations when having to prepare for a race, especially when there is the possibility of rain. The weather forecast in game gives you the next 4 days of forecast. That is not very useful on a given race day. Suggest a more detailed view like an hourly forecast, with added advanced settings so various track condition setups are available, with also the possibility to deactivate the advanced settings, which will be very much useful for players online during the race, so these do not interrupt the race for those online.

It must be said that I enjoy the game and believe it is a very excellent race simulation game, but the whole setup for races where it rains seem to become a gamble to get the tire selection correct. So very much interested to hear what implementations are being looked at from the developers point of view. So to add more realism and details to simulate the extreme sport which Formula 1 clearly is.

Hi Tim and Thomas, has this only been a problem where rain is a factor?

Yes only when it is possibly going to rain or is raining. Occasionally it is user error but it is always nervous times because sometimes it uses tyres we didn’t even choose or set in advanced setting

I noticed the game sometimes uses the tyre set in the 3rd option 'if it stops raining' in advanced settings as qualifying/starting tyre but usually this option only comes into play if the main strategy uses wet or intermediate tyres and rain stopped before qualifying/start and/or the track is dry. This condition doesn't fit the examples described here but there might be another rule I don't know/forgot about. Still, are you sure no Intermediates were set up there as well?

I think the settings for amount of water on the track and laps after it stopped raining never worked properly.

I know that Thomas had full wet if 3mm + and hards or softs if it stopped raining in advanced and his starting stint set up was for super soft so no intermediates were even mentioned yet he qualified on intermediates

If that makes sense

The post makes perfect sense. The game behavior in some areas less so, lately. I'm out of ideas but curious what the explanation might be.

Hey yall, all I can provide is a simple answer as I'm not a dev, though I interact with the dev team often. I can say with nearly 100% confidence these are issues caused by the game not being as stable in recent weeks. All their energy and efforts are currently going towards making the game more stable which will keep these unusual bugs from happening.

Tim and Thomas, I've sent you each 6 tokens for the setbacks you may have experienced from this.

Had exactly the same problem again today. Qualified on soft tyres in the rain..had selected inters.....came 24th and 25th.
Then 1st pit stop asked for inters but got softs when the track was still wet. Next stop asked for softs on a dry track....yep you guessed it. I got inters. What a joke.

Please clarify how the advanced settings are supposed to work, cause again in the race last night it was the source of frustration within my league.

I myself did that last practices 5-10 min. prior to the setup being locked. One driver were faster on Intermediate wets and the other of my drivers were faster on full Wets. So a bit confused what to use from side.

I chose Intermediate wets and set the advanced settings so Full Wets would be used at 3mm, as it is at above the 3mm precip, the full wets are normally most useful.

Understand my confusion when I qualified on Intermediate wets, but upon login for the live race the track conditions showed 3,4 mm. Why did my Drivers not get full wets? Track conditions were obviously met for such.

When are the Advanced settings to 'kick in'? Can they be trusted to function for qualification and race, or is it just for the race?

It is frustrating not having the information on track conditions available prior to the race. Some within my league go and spectate another race for that same track to view the track conditions, but have myself found this to not always to be accurate, as the spectated race can show drying conditions but upon race start the track is actually full rain and have a wet track.

Looking forward to an explanation and clarification on giving issues on the advanced settings.

Thank you.

I think the Advanced setting only kick in for qualifying and race start if the wrong type (dry in rain conditions or the other way round) of tyre is set up in the standard strategy. But I'm not entirely sure there because the settings like X mm water on track or Y laps after rain stops are not working properly in the race most of the time, so it might've just failed all the time to trigger before race start.
