Until 1960 the person with the fastest lap in a grand prix received a point for so doing.

It could be argued that we should be keeping to the current rules as much as possible, but this may add a little something to this excellent game.

This practice continues in other formulas; for example, the current rules for GP2 give the driver with the fastest lap 2 points.

What do you think?

or numerous like in v8 sc's and other motorsports.

It could work, but I think it would only aid those at the top of the races to get more points. When you're controlling the race from the front, it's very easy to save your kers for one fast lap at the end, thus enabling you the fastest lap.

For the lower leagues, who have teams without kers, the fastest car will get the fastest lap, and it would only spread the field out further in terms of points, if only by a little bit.

Just to clarify.

The extra point 'prize' was obviously in place before KERS was invented, so has been discontinued in F1?

And is KERS used in GP2?

KERS, if used in that manner, will obviouly give you the fastest lap so I don't think it is quite such a good idea.
