Just had a race at Monza which reports low wear and engineers suggest 2 stops with soft tyres for a full length race.

The tyre wear on the default strategy was so much that people were getting punctures. The winner ran 3 stops with softs and minimum push. I made up some time with hard tyres and consistency once I saw how hot the softs were getting.

Surely this track should be classed as high wear?

I just did a race at Bahrain. Very high wear, 17 degrees.

I did two stops on hards, with 4/5 push. Tyres were about perfect for the whole race when watching them in 2D.

Second and third place both ran two stops on softs. One of them must have had hard push because his tyres were overheating after 5 laps. The other one though, I was watching his tyres all race and they stayed blue all race. They never reached anything close to pink. Even if he was running 1/5 push, how is this possible?

Very high wear, hot day, soft tyres, staying blue? Surely this is not right. I don't even know that he did run 1/5 push, I'm just guessing he did. Even so, I would have thought with those conditions that softs were just not an option.

Yeah I was racing with you Bandit at Monza and followed the recommendation of 2 stops on softs with 3/5 push with Driver Papadopolous and he did 3 stops due to tyre wear. Tyres were at 25% after 8 laps on a Low wear track with track temps of 11 degrees. 
My other driver Christiansen was on 3 stops on soft with 4/5 push and after 8 laps tyre wear was 27%. There was obviously lighter fuel loads in his car compared to Papadopolous but seems strange to have such similar tyre wear with higher push.
Its freaking me out, what do I do next race, more push, less push, soft, hard!

It's all about experience. The technical director, be it a level 1, or level 8 is not helpful, so devise your own strategies. Don't blindly follow your TD.

I  agree dont listen to a word your technical director says. i've had mine for a about to 2 seasons and well he still cant get it right build your own he tells me 3 stop so i'll do a 6 cause i no thats much faster

I do not understand why the TD is so bad?
i.e. 
Maybe the first season the estimated fuel per lap is off but in the second season he can just look at the previous season and report a fact. Maybe its better that they just say:
Fuel consumption last seasons race was ....L
Tire wear was ...% with clear weather .. degrees Celcius.

I have noticed this many times too. In my opinion Monza has been strange with respect to tyre wear ever since the bèta version...

Would never run a 2 stop on softs on any track [with 100% race] if you look at how long your tyres lasted in the year befores race [e.g. my race this year i did 10 laps and tyres were at 33%, basic arithmatic will tell you that you cant do an 18lap stint

I dont even know why i bother paying for a technical director since i just ignore what he says anyway

I'm not really bothered so much by what the technical director suggests.

My bother is that it is classed as a low wear track when it clearly isn't.

Monaco on the other hand, the same conditions would have made maximum push on softs not even get up to temp.

Tyre wear and tyre temperature are 2 different things although related.. but having looked through data i have, more than 1 race will have the wrong "tyre wear" although it depends whether your counting soft/hard tyres or an average between them

+ is it tyre wear per lap, or total tyre wear for the race? because thats a massive difference

It doesn't matter Brady.

The point he is getting across is that even if the day temperature is the same, and the tyre wear is the same, the tyres wear so differently.

Look at our races.....

Monaco - 13 degrees, LOW tyre wear, SOFTS on 5/5 push & tyres barely turn pink.
Monza - 11 degrees, LOW tyre wear, SOFTS on 1/5 push & they overheat severely.
Bahrain - 17 degrees, VERY HIGH tyre wear, SOFTS on 1/5 push & they don't even turn pink, they just stay blue/grey.

How does this make sense?

I agreed that some of the tracks have it wrong, but rearding the above... the colour is the temp of the tyre[effected by the temp/humiditiy etc], the amount the tyre wears [%] is shown below that

Tyres will last for exactly the same amount of laps round bahran as they will monza [~15] [3.8stints per race] Brazil is also high tyre wear with Hungary low even though tyres will last ~19 [3.73stints per race]

Monaco since its also stated tyres will run ~25 [3.12stints per race] making it obviously very low wear

So yeh all tracks prob need some adjusting, but as i said above it depends on whether your talking race tyre wear/ lap tyre wear/ if your factoring the weather into it/ + whether its even soft or hard tyres, because most tracks hard tyres will last twice as long [and then some] as softs

based on soft tyres [the average temps at the tracks when i've raced them over 3/4 seasons your looking at "roughly" [Based on average tyre wear per lap... using 2d]

Very Low - Monaco
Low - Hungary / Brazil / GB
Average - Austrailia / Bahrain / Spain / Germany / Italy / Singapore / Turkey / Abu Dhabi
High - China / Europe / Japan
Very High - Belgium / Malaysia

I've been screaming about Monza and Monaco issues for over a year now and we are still waiting on "Basic" issue fixes...

I've just looked at the ones who posted and around 50% of these have quit the game now... These issues will be a part of the reason for quitting as well... iGP seriously needs to sort out feedback..

As the ones not in the know get sick of "Will these ever be fixed?" then it's no feedback or updates = They quit the game..

Please accept my apologies for the delay in fixing this.

I know 7 days have passed, but my answer there still stands.

"All work is currently focused on the simulator. As you note, there are still times when it hangs &/or crashes. This work has taken much longer than anyone could have envisaged, but it will continue until these issues are resolved.

The team would much rather be 'developing', but without a stable basis for the game new developments are indefinately delayed."


I know there are a lot of things waiting to be fixed & most of them, like this one, relate to the way the game simulates the race. Jack spends a lot of time fixing things which are outside the simulator, but until the stability of the simulator is addressed this sort of thing will have to wait.

To be blunt.......no simulator=no game

Its ok... I payed £40 for a game that wont be released till the end of 2014 .. i can wait for this :D

If you notice. I have been telling others to wait for the release of the new system in the last few posts I made.. I just stated to Nag, that this issue has been known about for a while.. I then edited my post because I looked through the people who posted and saw that a few of them are no longer logging on any more.. So I added the 2nd part of the post and gave my reason for them not being around any more. :)
