In the interest of getting players to spend tokens, I am curious if "Ideal Setup" is ever used. I've personally never hit that button. I feel like I won't learn anything by using it.

I'm curious what would be more tempting for users. My gut tells me that players would be more likely to buy more practice laps. Say 1 token gets a lap (per driver) or 3 token gets five laps (per driver)?

I've seen players create their own loophole with it by copying the ideal setup shortly before practice locks to the second driver.
The intended function is to provide it for players who may or will miss a race. It's dynamic too, altering itself for any condition.

Can you still change your set-up after buying the ideal setup? Or will it just automatically revert back to ideal before the race?

I did use it on the older account but I hit that button accidentally more often than I actually used it on purpose there. I haven't used ideal setup on this one although there are conditions when using it would provide a better setup. As Yunus said it adapts to the conditions so it actually would be a good way to ensure the right setup if I'm unsure, or know, I won't make it back before race lockdown.

You can't override ideal setup once bought. Usually this shouldn't be problem, though, because the only situation I'd want to change it is if I'm pretty sure the conditions for most of the race differ from the ones at start, which happens rather rarely and if it happens it's not a situation when I might profit from using ideal setup in the first place (At least I think it won't adapt the setup after the race start).

It is a function that should be removed, because it is a bit too "pay to win"

The set-up of the cars every manager should do it alone, try and try, without buying aid.
It would be much better to have 10 laps to try and not just 5, sometimes it is difficult to find the ideal setup with only 5 laps, especially for those who are not very expert and do not always write the data of the previous season.

No, it's far from pay2win. Those 10 laps (2 car leagues, for 1 car leagues it's a bit harder) are more than enough to figure out the right setup for all tracks during the first season and afterwards you only have to adapt it slighty for new drivers or for those small changes in preference due to training. So the only small advantage you can buy is the ability to switch setup if the weather changes after lock down and I'm not even sure if that will actually still happen after qualify was run.
