I'd like 3D graphics but for the eye candy only. I can't think of anything racing related that 3D can do that 2D wouldn't be able to do as well. Probably it's on the contrary because the simpler the interface the easier it usually is to keep an eye on everything important. Still, voted yes.
On the up side, the devs mentioned in another thread asking for 3D that they always had it in mind planning and doing the game. So it's not a matter if they want to, they really do, but if and when they can do it.

I make my proposal ...
Race in 2D ... and during the race and / or after the end you can see the replays of the overtaking in 3D of their pilots.
At the end of the run give the possibility to download the overtaking files (GIF or MPEG for example), keep the files on the server until the beginning of the next run, after overwriting them.
I think for the systems it could be a possible workload without huge changes.
