Something that might help you: The go to race button in the race calendar in the league tab is often shown quite some time earlier than the other buttons.

yes this is true, as soon as qualifying ends you can press this button

I agree, they could fix and do this:
Example with race at 21:30
21:20 block setup and strategy
From 21:20 to 21:25 qualifications
From 21:25 give the possibility to connect for the race
or better...
21:15 block setup and strategy
From 21:15 to 21:20 qualifications
From 21:20 give the possibility to connect for the race and wait
Even to me sometimes it happens with the slow connection to connect as the cars have already left
