I managed to lose my driver as i was away a couple of days for family emergency and his contract expired, the problem is I trained him to 1 level higher than my manager rank. Is there any way to get him back?

I am sorry you lost your driver. Because your driver is one level higher than you are you can't buy him back until you level up if he is still available. There is no other way of getting him back.
On a side note you can renew driver and staff contracts when ever you want and you do not have to wait till they get down to under 3 races left.
