Does lowering the weight in kg "improves" driver to a higher level (stars)??

Physical training ( weight & stamina) appears to make very little difference to star rating which is why it is a good idea to do this first as it doesn't really affect the speed of training.

Lighter drivers means less weight being carried around hence will be faster.

As Kevin post implies, weight does count towards level but the effect is pretty small.
