So, ive just levelled up to 6, so i changed my Technical Directer from a level 5 to a level 6 and the new level 6 guy has 20 experience, my previous Technical Director was usually a little conservative with fuel estimation which was fine, but this new guy is massivley under fuelling me with his fuel consuption advice, he's a whole 1 ltr a lap less than previous Technical Director and if i hadn't done some reserch of  1st season  fuel usage in diff league (as i was alittle suspiciuos) i would of not finished the race as he's 0.7 ltrs a lap short.

Whats that all about this guy is supposed to be a level higher & has bags of experience all my other 3 or 4 Technical Director's never under fuelled me???

i dont wanna have to keep hunting out old results from previous league every race, do i need to change to another level 6 guy or go back to my old level 5 one if he's still about?

go back to your old level 5 one.
the high leveled td are all underfueling you.

but the best solution is: fire him and do everything on your own!

Resign your old guy if you listen to his advice, although when your setting up to race just choose load, and choose your setup from last season

Or work out from your past results the average fuel/tyres used and keep a note of it, then you can create a more ideal strategy than your TD will give you in about 2minutes

It is a reasonable question to ask why high level TDs do habitually underfuel cars (which they certainly do). You would have thought that the better the TD, the more reliable and more detailed the information you would get would be. My experience is that my Level 8 TD tells me approximately what the fuel consumption is when the car is set to back off. While the car will quite frequently be set to back off for a large part of the race, it will never be set there for the entire race, so this estimate is less reliable than one from a level 6 or 7 TD would be. This isn't a handicap I can't work my way around, just as David describes above. But it also doesn't seem like one that really ought to exist.

A better thing for higher level TDs to do, rather than just underfuelling cars, would be to start estimating the effect of the push level on fuel consumption.
