If I bid on someone, the bid fee is paid. If at the end I lose the auction, do I get the fee back?

The tokens you spend are lost even if you win or lose the auction. The signing fee you only pay if you win the auction and after that the salary for every race. If you don't win the auction you don't pay signing fee. Hope this answers your question.
