Weather forecast was showing heavy rain all through race day (today) at the Spanish GP so I put on wets for my practice and then shorty afterwards the race started and the weather was now suddenly glorious sunshine so I ended up starting the race with Intermediates on and having to a pitstop on the second lap which effectively ruined my race.
In my opinion whatever the forecast is on the run up to race start should follow through into the race.

This is not a bug. It way weather works. It has to stop raining at some stage. It just unlucky for you it caught you like this.

Hi, thanks for the response Ian, but then shouldn't the track be soaking wet and need time for it to dry out?

I believe this is a side effect of the real-time weather we have at the moment. Don't take my word for it, but based on my limited understanding of the live weather system, the weather updates often in intervals (rather than something like every second) and can cause something like this to happen in rare instances, where if it stops raining between qualifying and the grid line-up for the race.

On the other hand, I think it's worth knowing more about how this might have happened. Did you set your advanced strategy for this race?

Hi Yunus, I did have an advanced strategy set up but I joined the race live from the beginning. I was the only live racer and every other team had automatically switched to the correct dry tyres which may have been because they weren't aware it could be a wet race. It was forecast to rain right up to the minute it said "Go to race" which I did and suddenly it was sunny and dry. I thought I'd got the advantage of being live and seeing the forecast so had made sure I was on wets for race start
Hope that helps?

Natural wether changes and really the weather is the only rhing mixing up the outcome of a race now,  since otherwise hard hard will always win.   I think the rain changing al the time even when it screws up my race  makes it more attractive.

Neil has a good point though...the track should have had some amount of water on it. However I have had this happen and it's very annoying when it happens...I like the idea of random weather as it mixes things up but within a minute of going to the race it shouldn't be bone dry

Hi Neil, thanks for the response. :)

Was your advanced strategy set to fit intermediate tyres when it stopped raining for X laps? If you don't recall, let me know.

Hi Yunus, my strategy that I always use is set wet tyres if it's raining and it reaches 2mm, then switch to intermediates if it stops for 1 lap.
I agree that changing weather conditions makes it more exciting and unpredictable but I do think if it's wet prior to race start then the track should start wet with over 2mm of water.

Based on the information you provided, it seems your advanced strategy resulted in the reason for starting on Intermediate tyres at the start of the race.

Did your regular strategy have dry tyres selected?

I always use the strategy of intermediates if the track stops raining after 1 lap.
