this drs is not ok all cars running in group are faster then cars running alone.
if i play a different strategy then the others im penalized because they are faster in group even with heavier cars loaded with fuel against a solo player with less fuel in same tyres .
the strategy to win this game should not be guess what others do but find the best strategy, its not like that every single player solo is always slower group of cars are faster .
ill quit the game after this topic because its not funny anymore.
like i said before in a topic u erased this is tour the france cycling strategy not f1.
if u erase this post again i will keep posting.

Then you have to see your in the group;) thats also tactics taking advantage of drs. I do it often. I 'm letting a player drive in front of me in the last round for example en take the drs so i'm in front again and boost till the finish.  You also can take advantage off it. For example you think the rest will drive 15laps. But you will take enough for 18 or 19 Laps. At the end you win the race because you tooked drs on them... and for the rest of the race you will be lighter as them ( stint 1and 3 are important 2 and 4 less) or joîn a 2 car league and take drs by your own driver ;)

Part of your strategy is indeed considering if it will be faster to run alone, in clean air, or to stay in a group of drivers and take advantage of DRS. Adapting your strategy to what others in your race do, is what gives the game a pinch of unpredictability and it gives managers the chance to beat the others by making better decisions. Also in F1 teams react on what other teams do and adapt their strategy accordingly.
Qualifying is about running alone and trying to set the fastest lap.
Race is about getting to the finish as first, taking into account all conditions and events happening on track, and DRS is one part of that.
I understand you can get disappointed if trying out an alternative strategy doesn't work out as you planned, but it would be pitty to see you leaving the game because of that. Sometimes an alternative strategy will really give you an advantage too.

I dont agree a group of slow heavy fuel players should never be faster then a single lighter car

My question is: is there an actual advantage in running in open air? If I am alone, may I expect to earn a bit of advantage in non-DRS sectors?

And the right strategy may be the worst in 1 race because there is a drs train and in next race u re penalized by using the wrong stragety because there is no drs train and u should use the right strategy, in reality u need luck to win and no strategy or knowledge at all.
I already quited the championship i was for more then 10 seasons because im forced to find a smaller 2 cars championship to be able to implement the right strategy and have drs all  race long, this is not the right way to win at all it should be a 1 car win not 2

if there is a slow car in the drs train, it can slow down the train. I think drs trains effective only on 4 or 5 tracks italy malasia china bahreyn...

As Onur said, that depends on who is in the DRS train. If you are just a little bit faster than the rest, you will be held up in corners and other non-DRS zones, so in that case you would be faster in these sections when running in clean air. If you are just a little bit slower but can stay in DRS range, then you would not be faster in clean air.

(speaking out of own user experience here, I don't have any insight in the code myself)

I think the DRS is OK, some time it cost you the win other time you win because of DRS it's part of the game and you need to find the perfect line between your Strategy and the DRS train

I agree with what Gert has said about clean air. You do need a decent pace advantage to make breaking away worthwhile, even if it is to tempt people into using their KERS to keep up with you.

Breaking free from 1 or 2 cars is much easier than a train of 5 or 6 cars though.

It also works the opposite way too, if you are running heavy on fuel it can be worthwhile using some KERS to keep up with a train which will benefit you more when the other cars around you pit and you can run on low fuel in clean air for a couple of laps.

well I was 4s clear in Italy and lost due to the train of DRS, It wouldn't happen in real life, I think it needs looking into

Keep the drs. Its part of strategy! How you win doesnt matter. I use always drs between my 2 drivers and dont need other cars for it. If you take that away where is the benefit of 2 equal trained drivers? You need to train them so they will stay together also in your strategy autherwise you lose to much kers. You need the kers for the last laps. Only good drivers can hold the kers for last. That makes  the diffrence between a good and an average manager
