Dear iGP community,
I may look stupid with my question since I'm quite an experienced player now but I faced something strange in my last race. It never really happened to me before.
Race in Turkey, practices in the rain. Inters were the fastest. My strategy was 3 stints in Hards. But to start with the right tyres, I set full wet after 4mm, and Inters after 1 lap below 4mm. Is there something I didn't get? I started in full wet, with 0.4mm of rain....
In any case, we miss something in this tyre strategy setting. There must have a better way to make it easier, don't you think?
Thanks

The problem here was that the main strategy was hards, so the game fell back to the only wet tyre given which was the full wets. The 3rd option isn't the tyre used if it's raining and below the set threshold but the tyre to be used if it stops raining, so as long as it still rains the game in most cases ignores that one. So I think a better bet would have been using inters for the main strategy, full wets above 4mm (but that setting is... tricky, I haven't read from anyone figuring out the connection between the real amount of water, the set amount of water and when that option actually triggers) and the hards as the tyre in case the rain stopped and the track is suddenly dry for some reason.

Good to hear that a dev is looking into this, though.

Hi, exactly the same problem as Seb.
And not possible to abandon the race to to preserve engine.

The relevant developer will continue work on this tomorrow to investigate these cases. It sounds to me like there was high standing water on the circuits at a certain time of day for some reason, and then it was drying up for a while. What time of day and track did you experience this on?

Thanks for the answer Frank. But in live, I remember at some points my drivers that wanted to pit by themselves when rain decreased below 1mm (not sure exactly about the level but was not 0). I remember as well my drivers changing between wet and inters with those thresholds. So I take your comments but to me it is still strange.
Jack, this was today in Turkey at 20:00 gmt+2
To me we should have a main strategy for dry, a set of tyre to fit when rain is above x mm and a level at which we consider it's dry. Between level 1 and 2, we could choose the tyres type too

You say it yourself, Decreased, the rain stopped below 1, so the game probably though it stopped raining, meaning they did use the third option.

That last thing is mentioned so many times, the argument versus that is that we want to prefer active managers attending their races, but I see your point aswell.

Thanks Rik for your answer.
It is exactly the problem. It didn't use the 3rd option. Otherwise I should have started in Inters, or in the worst case in Hard. But I started in wet, my first option if rain above 4mm which never happened in my mind.
2nd point, I'm exactly a live player only, therefore I'm bored if I cannot start with the tyres I want. Other idea would be to let the live players changing tyres on the grid from the live mode (like in real racing by the way)

Hello again,

I guess I should move this thread in the bug/issue section now. Yesterday, race at Silverstone with rain. Something went wrong again. Either I got Alzheimer and I don't remember how the game works, or something went wrong with the weather management... This time, I tried something different than previous race (see above). In practice, it was heavy rain, Wets were faster. In my strategy, I set my baseline with Inters for 3 stints, with Wets from 4mm and Hard in case it stopped raining after 0 lap. The target was to let the game set the right tyres to start the race depending on the track conditions.
Result, I started in Hard with 2.5mm of rain! By luck all but one team had to stop in the first lap to change tyres. I've never seen that since I created my league. Now, people start to be fed up and that's people paying for the game.
Is there anything to do? I'm not the developper but I have the feeling that the tyres are chosen too early before the race start (for qualy I guess). Please let us change the tyres on the grid! ;)
Thank you for your support
