Shaun
Kevin and Frank....isn't the point of this game to simulate a sport that we are fans of....
I do get what your saying about it randomly ruining a race if you have worked hard to get where you are.....but it's adding realism and unknown factor like in F1.....I think it could be a good idea if the incident was based on poor car management prior and during to the race...not sure how this could be balanced as obviously the issue of losing an advantage to a safety/yellow still exists....If it was related to poor management the users that generally get the advantages are the ones that should be uneffected....I can see both sides to this....
One thing I would like to say without trying to be offensive about those not attending live races and what effects all these proposed features may have on them is surely the main feature of this game is the live race...There isn't much to do outside of the race...obviously I know there are times where not even myself make all the races which really should give me a disadvantage...F1 isn't plug and play....surely the advantage should be to those that do attend and the features generally based on thier demands....
As I said that is my opinion and it's not said to cause offence so I apoligise if it does to anyone :)
There's the difference I think. For one I'm a motorsport fan, yes, but not a F1 fan. It's too much a rather boring overhyped circus too me. I'm glad it's there for different reasons and I follow the results occasionally but it's certainly nothing I want to spend an hour or two to watch races live, or manage them.
The second thing is that this game can't and probably doesn't want to be a full simulation, for technical and resource reasons and it would be way to complicated and inaccessible to attract more than a few hardcore gamers. I'd really like to have a multiplayer down to the depth motorsport manager, but I don't mind this is different because of the live racing here as a test of my strategy and tactic wits against the ones of cool other people in a motor sports themed game. So I like it as a good game, not because it's a simulation as it isn't one by far. That's why I'm against adding some features, at least if they are mandatory to all leagues, because I'd end up with a, frankly, still very shallow game in terms of simulating the team managing, car development and on track car simulation with a now watered down live racing where you're more or less at the mercy of some dice rolls. To me it would ruin the part where iGP as a game shines just for some realistic looking fluff.
Luckily another rather unique thing of this game are the player run leagues. So it could be added to the game and then added as a toggle to the league settings. People want a more randomized unpredictable races then let them switch it on for their league with a mouse click, or off in others league for people like me. Let people configure their leagues races right how they want them. Then the only problem is finding the league right for you, and over time the devs even get some sort of voting how many people like a feature as it is.
I agree with the not attending problem, as in there is none here. For one attending the races is the core of this game and the effects could be feathered by some more advanced setup options and giving better options otherwise like push levels per stint.
No apology needed and no offence taken. We're all just voicing opinions here, and different ones are a good thing because it's proven that discussing them often leads to better decisions and solutions. ;-)
