As I understand, IGP Manager is based on the 2009 F1 season. Therefore, it follows that the four tyre compounds used that yeear should be included, Super Soft, Soft, Medium and Hard rather than just the two. Is there a reson for this or can someone not be bothered to put them in?

They only take two each weekend anyway, a softer & a harder compound of the two.
Also, the only thing iGP Manage is based on about Formula 1 is the tracks. This isn't a game to totally replicate Formula 1. ''somone not be bothered to put them in'', you have no idea how ungratefully selfish you sound Jack, honestly.

Good grief - I cannot imagine how much coding is needed for the 4 tyre types that are used in iGP never mind adding more!!

I am with Ryan. Each race in real F1 there is a "Prime" and an "Option" tire which equates to a "Hard" and a "Soft" option. Look at your tire choices that way and you can imagine using say Super Soft and Soft at one track, Soft and Medium at another and Medium and Hard at the next. I think it works great the way it is and is clear on which tire is which for a given week.

I think there are alot of concerns when it comes to tires at the moment, and right now Ryan has the point. The more important issues are the tires overheating, most races when using softs I have to use Back off to keep them white.

I think that's the point David. You're supposed to have to back off to keep the softs white :D
It is a little annoying at tracks like Bahrain though where hards are just too slow but the softs overheat even on minimum 1/5 push level. It basically means if you want to have a chance at winning you have to run softs, but if you run softs you're virtually always on 1/5 so passing is basically impossible without kers.

Right now the tire ratio for Option and Prime in a general way is
Option are 1.2 seconds per 'lap' faster than Prime
Prime lasts 1.5 times longer than Option.
The operating temperature difference between the two tires at races is usually 10 degrees.
These are pirelli stats ofcourse but this shows how far off our tires are compared to realistic figures.
