If several teams in one league have 0 points, how are they ranked in the league standings?

I’m in a league where 4 teams are in this situation, and my team is currently ranked bottom and in the relegation zone. I don’t think I’m likely to win any points during the season, but I’d like to avoid relegation if I can!

Think it then goes on best finish like if somebody finishes 11th and another 13th the 11th is higher than 13th and the 1st to get 11th is higher than 2nd to get 11th in season so if you in relegation look above then check results to find there best finish and get 1 place higher that what you need to do i might be wrong but that what i have always took it as

It should work such that the order is determined firstly by best finishing position (ascending order) and then date of best finishing position (ascending order again).

So if your best finishing position is 11th in round 1 and someone else with 0 points finished 11th in round 2-17, you'll rank ahead of them on that basis.

While discussing this topic with the moderators though, I've been told this doesn't always behave this way, is that true?

For 0 points it seems to usually work that way. I just remember that quite some while ago, early into one season, I just once stumbled upon a different ranking, as if the initial ranking at season start still influenced things.

Most confusion in the forum seems to arise because for teams on equal points above 0 it's different, there it looks like they rank just according who held the higher rank before and not based on results.

If that's basically the same with the 0 points, just based on racing results instead of actual points, it mostly would work the same as who scored a better result first but might explain the above oddity standing I mentioned if in order to generate that initial pre-season standing the drivers/teams get some 'virtual race' result of sorts that might score higher than the results some lower end teams manage, for a few races at least. Quite a long shot into the blue, though. :-)
