Weather forecast for the last few days (and still) has been showing as heavy rain for tonight (obviously on the game) so I put Wet tyres on the car.

Just got the quali results in and I'm right at the back, 6 seconds off the pace and 3 seconds behind the 2nd slowest car??

Does the weather actually mean nothing on this game?

Very, very frustrating :-(

Probably the weather changed, wait for the race and then tell me what the weather was at the beggining plz

But how am i supposed to know that the weather has changed?

All I have to go on is the weather forecast on the home tab and that is still showing Heavy rain as it has done for the last three days.

I only changed to wet tyres just before the 30 minute lockdown BECAUSE it was still showing heavy rain!

I don't have 2D so the live timing I do have is not showing weather at all :-(

Live weather is shown when your doing your setup/strategy

The race is now dry, when the weather changed i cant say, but since your the only person on wets it would appear it was before setup locked or every1 would be on wets

Where on that link you just put does it show current weather? (EDIT: Ignore that, the link just took me to a different page than it had before.)
Unless I am online constantly and monitoring right up to the last second before lockdown how do I know that it has changed?
My home tab which is the only obvious weather indicator is still showing heavy rain (90% chance of 50mm!!)

I don't think that every other driver swapped FROM wets before the quali, I just think I was the only one to swap TO them because of the weather shown!

In the middle [Live Weather], as opposed to the home screen which says forecast [which is for a 24hour period]

+ if your in a race that above link wont work, as you cant change setup/strategy

you look at the live weather when your doing your setup [and ideally you want to do setup as close to lockout, to get ideal setup for the weather]

I guess that I'm going to have a LOT of races where my setup is not ideal then. Work/family commitments mean that being able to constantly monitor and do things exactly at the right time just isn't going to happen :-(

I'll have to carry on doing the best I can but I now know that I can never be truly competeitive.

Real shame as I thought I'd finally found a decent online F1 game.

Why don't you join a different league then that has a better start time for you?

The game is fine, you can't blame the fact that you can't be there in time for your race on the game. That's your problem :P

Yeah wayne, there are tons of leagues with diferent times... for example the one i am playing in and we are acepting new guys it's at 23 central time

Maybe I am wrong but I think what Wayne means is he isn't parked in front of his monitor 24/7.
But that is true for a lot of players - just check in as often as you can.

I also think that is why the devs are trying to make the game work on all applications - so that you can use your phone, ipad , whatever, to keep up to date.
That way you are not tied to your computer and could even use it during work, childcare, in the pub, marital duties etc etc!!  :O

The wet tyre issue after lockdown it to be addressed though.

i believe part of this issue will be fixed in the Q2 update, if its raining the tyre you have selected in your wet weather strat will be automatically fitted to the car as its just not realistic to start on dry tyres in the rain

Thank you for your very helpful post :P

I work shifts (in a place where I have no net access and cannot carry a mobile phone so multi device usability does not help me at all, nor does changing leagues unless i can find one that works in perfectly with my shift pattern) and have a family (so may not be available even if my shifts allow).
Like Jake says, I simply cannot be responding at the right time every time.

Involving changing live weather in an online game is a step too far in my thinking (no matter how much it adds to the realism).
There should be a considerable period before quali/ the race (I'm thinking 24 hours) when you know exactly what the weather at the start of the race will be and can plan accordingly. At the moment I can set up my car an hour before quali and conditions could have changed completely by the time it takes place.

If the weather changes during the race then so be it, that's where the wet weather strategy comes in.

i agree with wayne.   As you can´t control anything in the qualify the game should change for you the tyres to Soft/Hard (the one you choosed for first stint) or wet/intermediate (if it rains).

If the weather changes AGAIN after qualify you are out of luck! But at least the qualify was done with the correct tyres.

More easy to implement (i think) than trying to fake the weather.

Clear - Soft/Hard
Rain - Intermediate
Heavy Rain - Wets

Eh? Rain - Intermediate? Light rain was always intermediates. No way you could run inters at Silverstone when it is "rain"
