Can anyone shed some light on how the results in practice usually in our league most laps completed in 30 mins prior to race start are a LOT closer than the quali which is often a little quicker (.4 - .5 seconds) but a much larger split between actual timings.
What determines a quicker quali lap and how can we affect that?

This is not exactly what happens but I imagine it's something along the line like this. In practice laps engine modes are on level 1 and Qualy lap is on engine mode 10. Now I'm not saying there is differrent engine modes and users can change them, just to be clear users can't do this. But you get an idea why Qualy lap times are slightly faster than practice laps.

MS - I get that the quali laps might be quicker e.g. party modes in F1, say.
But I don't get how often times practice results are top 4 within .040 in practice but in quali often can be 0.2 between pole and 2nd.
Just seems like a big gap when practice is a lot closer.
