Uh what is the point of having medium or hard tyres as an option? Is it possible to have a better strategy than 4 stints on Softs with the occasional Super Soft for the first stint. It's just a bit predictable. Who in their right mind is going to put on Hards?

I think as soon as the tyre change was announced all those months ago we all knew that this issue of a dominant tyre would find it's way back into the game. Before it was the softs, now it's the softs

edit:
"before it was the softs, now it's the softs" wow I must actually be dumb...
*before it was the hards, now it's the softs.

I volunteer to be a tyre tester when they do the change :P

In my opinion, and I've said the same in previous posts, the real problem is that ambient temperature doesn't have enough influence on tyre temperature, wear or lap times.
For example, if you run a soft compound tyre in the summer at somewhere like Italy they should overheat even at PL1 and as a result the lap times should suffer. You might get away with them at 7 degrees in the winter but in high temperatures mediums or hards would return better overall time for a stint.
This would mean that ambient temperature on race day would be important and just copying last seasons winning strategy would not always be the best option.

Mediums and Hards won our last two races as they were faster than those on the Softs!! I even tried the SS to get a fast lap time in but the Hards were still quicker!! Most of the rest of the season was a battle between the Softs and Mediums!! We started a brand new league from scratch which reset all of our stats and its made it an interesting a fun time to play again!
Yes the tryes still need tweaking though!

Kevin

To me this is the tweak that is needed.
Make the tyres react to specific track temperature like in a normal motorsport race.

Thanks

This is the reason in my league we have the 2 compound rule, I suggest you find a league with the same rule if it gets boring.

Ege, how do you enforce the 2 compound rule?

Hey Paul,

First thing is you have to make sure everybody knows the rule, so you can penalize them easily if they break the rule as they won't have anything to hide behind.

Then, you have to have set penalties for each offence of the rule. We are not very tolerant with it so we have 1 penalty, which forces the driver who broke the rule last race is going to have to start on Hard compund, no matter which track, and has to pit right after the start; so 1 lap of hards. Also that tyre does not count into the 2 compound rule, so you can't just do the rest on the softs either.

If someone doesn't apply the penalty in the race then it's usually a kick after we debate it in our whatsapp group.

Also if a manager hasn't done the practice lap and the race strategy, we do not penalize them as they already finish at the back.

I do not remember any more details but you can always ask if you have any specific questions.

If it helps anyone with multi tyre compound rule might want to read the tyre rule I use in my league. You can follow the link and read about it there.

I agree soft tyres are lasting too long. I am in a league with 2 tyre rule and it helps, but tyres could use some tweaking
