I started noticing I was losing money at an alarming pace. Wanted to know where my money is going, I start paying close attention. So far, I wasn't interested in money, since it was always more than enough. But in this rhythm, I will go bankrupt. OK, some mistakes from me under contracts and so on, but one thing I didn't understood, maybe someone could make some light on the issue. Last race, under finances tab, I noticed I spent 4,205,250 dollars (or whatever) on staff wages. My staff wages totalled is 2,646,000 only. Can someone tell me where is the problem ? Thanks.

Did you hire or fire any engineers, mechanics, designers or marketers?

The game charges you money to hire or fire "junior" staff. Firing costs half as much as hiring. The cost of hiring/firing shows up under Finances as Staff Wages, in addition to those paid to your Chief Designer/Doctor/etc.

But I didn't fire or fire anyone. I have 200 people already. I just reassigned them, they were there all the time.

Alternating staff (reassigning them) costs you a fee Alin. It says it when you do it. If you upgrade or downgrade your designers say, it says next to it how much it is going to cost you.

EG I have 122 designers right now. If I downgrade do 62 designers I will pay a fee of $742,500. If I then rehire the 60 designers I fired, it will cost me another $742,500.

That sucks. And now I found out design costs too. I wonder how I got to 100 millions without knowing all this and now I am losing big time each race.

lol - yeh I found that out the hard way too.
Maybe now some of you really rich guys will understand how it is a lot easier to get into debt if you don't read the small print - and if you don't keep winning.

Good luck Alin.

Thanks, but first of all, I am not rich anymore. I was. :D And second, this puzzles me even more. Has always been like this ? Because I don't get it how on earth I could get to 100 million and buying every facilty that was. Now, that I don't need to buy facilities and all, I am losing 1-2 millions per race.

Has always been like this ?

I don't know about always, but it's been like this since I started playing in early June.

Looking over your team, what I would suggest is firing your Commercial Manager and your Technical Director. Commercial Managers don't affect anything right now, and Tech Directors only give fuel estimates, and those tend to be wildly inaccurate anyway. You can auto-sign a Commercial Manager for like $1,000 per race, and hire a low-level TD. I don't know if doctors really do reduce atrophy as they are said to do, but if they don't you can get a low level one of those too. Chief Designers do seem to affect the car development so I'd probably keep the one you have if you're happy with him.

Something else you can do is low-ball the salary on staff and the payment on suppliers. I've been able to hire staff at less than half their asking price. Doesn't seem to work with drivers, but if you're blowing a lot of money on staff and equipment this might help you to at least break even. Just a guess though. Without asking seeing hard numbers I can't tell for sure.

+1 James.
It is amazing how high the salaries for your drivers can get without you noticing, and how the money just leeches away if you do not get any income.

Been there, done that - well actually - still doing that!

Thanks for the tips, James. I didn't know that. And I will have a long conversation with my staff. Times are hard, we need to cut down some budgets. They won't like it, but we are in a middle of economic crisis.
