I thought the cap in Pro was 80 so in theory no team can exceed this without using supplier bonus which are not researchable. How can you be behind other teams if you also have 80?
Once you've developed a design area completely, in your instance, to 80, there's no more research progress to be gained.
Meaning, you've gotten 80 design points assigned to it.
If your base Acceleration is 70, and you have a +10 Acceleration supplier bonus, your Acceleration is then 80. However, you can still develop Acceleration, have 10 more design points poured into the base design giving you an 80 base with the supplier bonus bringing you up to 90 Acceleration, or switch suppliers to 'make up ground' in a different area that isn't maxed out yet. The question is, do you have the cash to burn to switch suppliers? Now you have to consider if you want to keep the 90 Acceleration or switch to something different.
