To answer your question: Hards are hardly any useful. In jaesh condition they might be ok, but still meds would be my favorite.

I think Help & Support is OK for questions of this nature.
IMO you're spot on with your advice, avoid hards, they're too slow even at high wear circuits in high temperatures.
