Maybe we could give the manager the opportunity to change the quantity of fuel for start between Qualify and Start.

If the strategy will not work, because of bad start-position, the manager can change his strategy in a better way.

added later for better understand:
If you're in league with most managers with the same XP - and almost all managers use the same tire type at startup - the only difference is the amount of fuel before the first stop.

Because the Qualify is driven with little fuel: It is pure coincidence where you land on the grid.

If I plan some quick first rounds with less fuel - but I start at position 20 - it makes sense to correct the amount of fuel before the start to a higher amount, because I can not overtake 19 car from equally strong opponents. Remember: the first and secound rounds are without Boost!

@Julio...LMFAO!!!!!

Respectfully, I don't see why that should be an option Christian....

you have plenty of time in between races to articulate your strategy, including 5 test laps.
If your strategy doesn't work at all, make notes, review these notes before the next time you race the track involved, then re do your strategy based on what you learned(visit your notes) the last time on the same track. Given your XP's I would imagine you already go through this process.

Now if you are really keen on making changes on the fly, wait till the leaders pit then make your changes.

In my case, I may qualify with soft tires and end up below top 10... ease up on the boost... while everyone on SS pits, I can in most cases make up positioning. It's not easy to be patient...but definitely possible.

I should have already described this scenario at the beginning, so that everyone can understand this suggestion.

Because of the locked system they use currently, I think the better idea would be changing how qualifying works.
Instead of using low fuel, use their opening stint fuel

There was a different solution to the qualifying problem in a thread posted yesterday that is better at least in my opinion.

Simulate the drivers times with Race fuel in the qualifying lap. Real F1 used that system back in '03-'05 and it would work perfectly for iGP. Of course there would still be differences and randomization in the grid order. a driver with 25 litres could still start behind someone with let's say 27-28 litres with a bad lap but it would be impossible to start behind drivers that use 40 litres for their first stint.

Of course Christian your solution is also a possibility but i think it would be easier to implement the race fuel qualifying.

edit: thanks for adding the link, Nick :)

Nick
I'll edit your link to make it "clickable".
Cheers

I prefer the suggestion in this thread to the other one but I think I can see a possible issue.

Qualifying would have to be run 5 or 10 mins earlier than it is now to give the server time to crunch the numbers at peak times leaving a bigger window for weather to change.

Of course, the idea for a qualify with selected fuel for starting is also a perfect solution.
