After listening to all the news surrounding Pastor Maldonado and Williams GP, and the accepted practise of yesteryear, I had an idea about pay drivers in iGP Manager. With some teams struggling along, nearly heading into debt, what about being able to sign a driver who will pay for his/her seat, as in say 1m per race or whatever?

Obviously they would be of a fairly low level talent wise, as are/were the vast majority of pay drivers.

The main reason we haven\'t done this is because it would unbalance the economy too much to have some teams paying a lot of money for a driver and others getting a pay driver.

Perhaps pay drivers could become available only if you are in debt.

That might have solved my problems during the beta testing!
But I think it would be difficult to manage - at what point do you then have to \'buy\' a driver?

It might be worth looking into though.

Well, pay drivers are usually worse at driving (that\'s why they need to pay) so they are slower so top teams would not want a pay driver so it would benefit only teams in trouble.

My 50 cents.

The term \"pay driver\" seems to be misunderstood. Pay drivers are drivers that have a relationship with a particular sponsor. Thus, a team will get more money from sponsor x than they would from sponsor y for driver the next Michael Shumacher or what have you.

In Maldonado\'s case, he is the best guy from Venezuela, and Hugo Chavez needs people to come to his country and what not...you can go on, but its something that is a bit tough and needless to replicate, especially how this sim looks.

How about some form of sponsor bonus linked to specifiec drivers?

E.g if you pick Joe Blogs as a driver, your sponsor iwll give you a 10% bonus per race.

I also think pay drivers should be linked to suppliers, e.g if I signed a japanese driver, Wonder engines would come cheaply

I was playing a very simular game to this about 4-5 years ago an they had a "Pay" system.  Where you would use pay-pal to purchase game credits to in a way rent parts and drivers for 4-8 weeks depending on how much you paid.  You could also pay for extra pratice sessions an so on.

Also all the game credits went back into the game.  The major con to this was if you were only playing the game for the love you never stood a chance against the paying teams.
