I find both hard and medium to be too slow, I always end up using two sets of soft instead of one medium so end up with a 3 or 4 stop race each time instead of the recommended 2stops
, the time gained makes up for the extra pit stops
Thank you folks, I’ve not found a circuit or weather temp that benefits using either medium or hard compounds over softs tho, I’m in a 100% race league, for me the medium n hard compounds are just too slow ? it’s a shame because it prevents alternative strategies
in 100% races, the problem is this: Fuel consumption is equal to other distances but tyres last longer. That means, if u plan to use 40 liters max per stint, you simply don't need Med or Hard, cause Soft are going to survive that distance quite well.
I will use them on the warmer races, I've had issues with overheating on the Softs in the warm races. I do pretty good with tyre wear, so it becomes all about being able to keep the tyres at the right temperature. In some races, even at push-1 the tires will simply be too warm to do anything.
Choosing between Meds or Hards, the wear is usually 1% difference between the two, so then it's only about the temperature still. I've read the "guide" on here that is referred to as the manual basically and he says Meds are useless and just skip from Softs to Hards...but the guide was written before the new iteration of this game, in which they modified the tyres' attributes quite a bit. And so, I have not found a race where Hards have been useful because they just stay cold the whole time and lap times suffer.
But I still use Meds on the hot tracks, and my lap times become consistent within 3 laps of breaking-in.
Maybe because we're into winter-spring time... Wait for summer weather.
It's summer in the southern hemisphere

Medium and Hards work in hot temperatures, i guess in a couple of months when you see 45 Celsius in Abu Dhabi or 35C in other tracks Hard and Medium will be the only choice, plus its different to race with 5 celsius in Spain and next time 22.
I used mediums and Hards in a 1 stop last race at Abu Dhabi for a 1st and 2nd.
the top 3 used hards to set their fastest laps,
Mediums and Hards most certainly have their place,
but of course the SS is fastest but if its warm then time is lost pitting early because their burning up and not able to push
