Is this game supposed to be realistic or not. I have been playing this game for a few weeks now and it is becoming clear that there is something not quite right. Just tonights race as an example. Out of a field of 28 cars only 4 finished on the lead lap. By lap 40 out of 60 I myself was 5 or 6 laps down 12-14 seconds off the pace. at the finish the cars outside the top 4 were 1 to 10 laps down. not very realistic because over half the cars would not have been allowed to race. I play the GPro game and it could use a few elements of this game that is fundamentally very good. It seems the rewards for having a good package and the penalty for having a bad package are too far apart.

12-14 seconds off the pace? This is literally not possible unless you're on the wrong tyres. Was it maybe raining and you were on intermediates?

Looking at the last race it was raining. Alot of people were on inters and not on full wets.

Ah yes but I just took the last race as an example, this is the first wet race I have had, the dry races have not been so extreme but they were still unrealistic.

What part are you saying is unrealistic? The biggest perforemance difference is Driver atm.

Can understand a bad driver/car package being perhaps 3 laps down at the end of a race, but 10!!!!! Oh perleeease. That's what's unrealistic.

U were on Intermediates which were like 14 seconds a lap slower than wets.

Oh well will discontinue this thread as some of you obviously do not see the point I am trying to make, probably my fault as I have not explained it properly :)

If your point is that intermediate tires are 100% useless in this game, then I wholeheartedly agree. There isn't a single situation where I have been able to use inters to make any headway as things stand.

Yep agree with this. It just rains now after the weather update, there is no point in using inters when the track is drying as it drys to quick.

I actually couldn't agree less. Inter's have worked plenty of times for me in the past, especially around tracks that don't see to dry out very quickly, like silverstone for example.

Also situations like when you are due to pit because you are about to run out of fuel, and the rain stopped 2-3 laps ago. You're better off fitting inter's and doing another 8-10 laps or so than you are fitting either wets (where you will only get 3/4 laps out of them, and they aren't fast) or slicks (where it's still so wet that they just stay blue)

I've seen inters being 2-3 seconds a lap faster than both slicks and wets many times, so there is atleast "some" use for them...

What tracks dry too quick? I could imagine some would, but tracks like Australia and Silverstone take forever to dry. I got a good 10-12 laps on inters not long ago around Silverstone after it stopped raining where the inters were faster than the wets for a good 8 laps and faster than slicks for a good 10-11 laps.

I will have one more go and trying to explain the point I was trying to make, here goes.  I was not talking about my performance i.e wrong tyre strategy and all that. If I make wrong choices or not got a good enough package then that is my fault and deserve to take the penalties that go with that. My point was that the software engine that is used to drive the game and simulate the figures, I beleve punishes a bad pakage too heavily and possibly rewards a good one too much, and the result is a very big and unrealistic gap in lap times.

At times when you are on the wrong side of it yes, the gaps are huge. But if you looked at my league, and the elite tier, we get qualifying where the top 20+ cars are all within 1 second of each other. If they changed the system to reduce the gaps between cars, then my whole league would be just one giant jumble of cars.

I'm not saying your point isn't valid, but you also have to look at the other side of the story too.

Yeah, I can see what you are saying and have taken that on board, but at last somebody who,s seen the point I was trying to make. thank you for taking the trouble to answer my concern with a very valid reason for not rocking the boat.

Oh please, lemme clarify things about this game..

Level 8 Team beats and dethrones a team with 2 level 17 drivers, team level 11 and has won 13 straight constructor championships in a highly competitive League.

The game has 3 deciding factors:

Your Drivers

Your Cars

Your Strategy
Fail on any, and another team, even a very low end team can beat you. We've seen that plenty of times in our league, currently we have 9 different drivers winning the first 9 races this season, previous seasons it was 6-8 of the first 6-8 races. All teams are within the 10-13 bracket, and the drivers themselves are within the 10 to 19 bracket that win the races.

For the OP:
Choosing the correct tire goes a long way, also learning to box at the right time, switching to the correct wet compound also goes a long way. You are inexperienced at this game. Take time to learn the game before criticising the game. Only criticism that can involve you, is directed towards you.

Doesn't seem to real to me. 30 lap race my buddy did it all on one set of tires without stopping. His rear wing and engine are orange but he puts up the fastest lap of the race on the last lap. I did 3 stints. First stint on softs took a lead into pits and fitted hards. I was 4 seconds behind at this point. I caught my buddy and took the lead but then I made a second stop and he passed me again and I couldnt catch him. I had fresh tires and he was pulling away. My car was totally refitted prior to the race.
How do 30 lap tires put up the fastest lap and fresh softs not even close the gap?
Is it more real if you pay to play?
