How is the tech director's fuel prediction made? at what level of 'push'? when drivers aren't pushing at all, or midway, or driving flat out?
It's just no matter what level I drive at, if I follow my tech directors advice, I always end up having to make a splash and dash, even when I've put in half a dozen extra litres.
But, putting in too much fuel can slow you down...

A rule of thumb I use is 0.7 litres of fuel for every kilometre of distance. This will vary depending on suppliers and push level (will be a bit too high sometimes, other times a bit too low). The highest I've ever seen is I think 0.745 L/km. If you have good suppliers 0.72 L/km is a safe bet 99.5% of the time.

Use previous seasons as a data source for fuel consumption, then you can use a note pad or spreadsheet to develop a system for calculating your strategy.

Thanks James, done 3 races using your guide and I'm now making it to the end of races without the splash and dash :)

I would David but I haven't completed one full season yet so still had new races, so no comparisons could be made.
