For what? I get perfect setup at lap 1 most of the time. So should everyone.

Aaron, you would be best explaining why you think we should have more than 5 practice laps per car if you want your suggestion to go anywhere.

I for one think 5 is plenty, practice times mean nothing. All the practice laps do is return your fuel usage and tyre wear which are the only two values you need. Your ride height and wing settings never change unless you change driver and even at that it is only a few clicks up or down on the setup side.

1 lap on medium
1 lap on softs
1 lap on super soft

Hards are not a vaiable tyre in my current 50% distance league.

Not for setup, for trying out different car stats/ suppliers

E.g. ive always thought handling was the main car stat for monaco... i had my breaking at 90 (+10 from supplier) and my handling at 82 . So i switched supplier from breaking to handling [90 breaking and 82 (+10)
handling]... i did two laps on each and found that the breaking supplier was 0.3 quicker

Hope that makes sense,

So it would be nice to play around with suppliers and test different lap times.

I can do it with 5 laps, but with slow progress

Thanks andy, i should have explained it the first time

Definitly 5 is good. Not more.

I am uncertain why anyone is against more practice laps.  As a reasonably new manager, I find the practice laps helpful and just an interesting way to play with things.  It may actually be pointless for some but this is a game isn’t it?  Some pointless amusement here and there should be acceptable and expected. So... put me down for more practice laps unless someone has a good reason why having them harms anyone.

Relying on practice times is not really a good idea. Reason is practice may vary in times up to 0.5 seconds so testing suppliers in practice is not really a great idea.

Yes but it can give a rough idea though

I suppose that more laps would be good if, as in reality, a driver improved his 'feel' for the circuit as he got more laps done. Found out if soft tyres are really 'a little slow here' rather than it just being a subpar lap from him. If times change with tyres and even more so from year to year due to car design then what might have been an optimal strategy last season may not be the best this season. If we have that level of subtle complexity built in to the game then...yes...more practice laps please. If not, then there isn't.really a need. So...do we want the nuances of a real practice session factored in?
Personally, I'd love it.

Monaco is a more of a Handling track..I raced with a then Level 15 account against multiple Lvl19 and Lvl20 Managers in Monaco earlier this season, and managed to take the pole and 1-2 with drivers (Lvl15 rated) normally +0.200s/lap on every other track.

Jack has even confirmed this in another post somewhere :-D
