Hi everyone,

I joined the game recently and I'm getting hooked !
I read a couple of guides to learn the basics and I now have a few questions about Fuel Economy and consumption and how to plan strategy.

Joey's guide was awesome but I was puzzled by the examples about FE.
As a remainder:

Belgium, 9 laps :
FE at 51 => 28.2L used so 29L means 0.8L remaining = + 0.8kg
FE at 55 => 28L used so 28L are enough with 0L remaining = + 0kg
=> In this situation it is better to improve your FE

(*L = Liters)

Is there a way to compute the 28.2L for 9 laps with FE at 51 ? Or is it results from filling 29L and seeing that there is 0.8L left at the end of the stint ?

Following that, with practice consumption results, I computed that I need a certain amount of fuel to complete a set number of laps.
Adding the 3 stints, the game warns me that I might not have enough fuel to complete the race, according to the estimation.
Should I be worried about it or should I trust my number ?
I know that push level comes into play here but that's live strategy that can work around that.

Thank you in advance for the answers and have a good season.

Hi Wambou! ;) Welcome to the game, and yes, this game is addictive! :-D

The Fuel Economy data in Joey's guide will be from his own past data, based on:

a) Fuel Economy rating
b) Ambient temperature
c) Driving Style

  • Ambient temperature will likely vary season to season (excluding Malaysia and Singapore, which being close to the Equator, do not experience much temperature changes)

  • Driving Style is a big factor. Every managers 'drives' each track differently..some are more aggressive, some not so. This can have a large influence over your actual number, so it is a good idea to keep a note of your readings, with the temperature and FE rating.

Another factor now, is the Tyre Selection choice. If you choose one of the harder compounds (Medium, Hard) you will use more fuel compared to Softs or SuperSofts. The harder compounds require more Push to 'warm-up' and to maintain them in the ideal temperature range.

And lastly, KERS usage can also have a small effect on Fuel Consumption! It's a very small figure though! :D (typically +0.15L for emptying a full c. Level 15 KERS boost)

Hope that help! ;-)

Thanks for the answer, it was insightful.

Knowing beforehand that tyre and KERS as an effect means adding some more fuel in the calculation.

With last race, I saw that using lap estimation is not useful when beeing competitive. Too much leftover at the end of the stint...

Thank you again and maybe see you in race :)

My advise: take notes.
When calculating fuel, I look at last seasons consumption. Important to know last year's FE and weather temperature!

I am taking notes, I understood that this is how to progress :)

I was wondering if the algorithm behind FE was known or if too many variables were involved.

I will make mistakes, take notes and learn.
Thank you for your answer.
