A most excellent question Andy!!!!!
Unfortunately not a straight forward answer.
And you're right, there isn't much out there bc it's what really defines your best chances for success. The point is that if all the tactics were out, then everyone would be using the same strategies thus creating a really monotonous situation.

From my personal experience;

  • The best time and place to look for info/advice is during live races from consistent top finishers.

  • Pay attention to what they say on the race chat and fill in the blanks to some of your own questions.

  • Of course the forum is definitely a great source of current information.

  • google iGP setups or guides. you can get some different kinds of spreadsheet styles to gather race data.

You want to study your opponent's strategies in detail or see where you went wrong on your strategy? Record the race.

This is a long and time consuming process, but once it's done you'll be glad you did.

I'm still gathering data. Not even at the halfway mark yet.

My apologies if deviated from topic. I hope this points you in the right direction.

Going into my 3rd season now, first one in pro. Looks like I’ll have to do some more homework with the data sheets, maybe changing my league to a time after work hours would be a great idea haha. I’m just trying to note tracks with high/mid/low tire degradation and so on for now. Thanks for the tips guys, much appreciated.

When it comes to live management, apart from strategy, the tactics side is mostly down to all the finer details with things like boost management and what I call racecraft. There are not many guides on those because it's very hard to really point out stuff without having been there for the race and observing how the race plays out. Any general guide on all those tactics will just be that, general.

In your league(s), study how people are winning, and the more competitive your league, highly likely the more effective strats and tactics the managers are using.
What strategy did they use and how did they execute it? It's very common for managers to have similar strats but how they make them work can be very different.
Was there some boost usage that did something for them? Got them DRS, took DRS off you, used to get track position at certain spots? Broke from the DRS train? Little tricks they have with boost? How did they deal with the DRS train?
When were they aggressive (using boost for overtaking or trying to pull away, pushing hard) and when were they more conservative (saving boost, staying in the train)? How much did traffic play a role? If you're racing 2 car, then what team tactics did they seem to employ, how do their cars work together, etc. There are all sorts of things to reflect on when you choose to take the time to go over what happened in the race.
