What does the (R) stand for against a driver's name? It has been puzzling me? I thought Rookie..... but then I have only had 5 races so would have that against my driver if this was the case???

No. He will retire after the season, doesn't matter how long the contract is.

"Arthur
but at the top of the retiring driver's page it says "Will be retiring when current contract expires."

Maybe that was changed... Is it possible to renew the contract if the driver is markes with an (R). If not than that would make sense that he retires when contract ends. If not than that wouldn't make sense.

I thought they would retire at the end of current contract

I thought this was resolved.  I seem to remember an issue with the wording/timing a while back.
Maybe needs to be sorted out?!

It is "Will be retiring when current contract expires" no matter what. I had a driver that I signed for 12 races and then after signing decided to retire at the end of the contract. I could not extend (I tried to re-sign after every race) even though I was only going to be halfway through the season when he retired.
