I think that players should be unable to view the strategies of other managers from previous seasons. The times and results should stay the same and it should be possible to view your own strategies from previous seasons.

If there is one dominant manager in the league then the majority of players will copy the strategy from the previous season. This makes the races predictable and more boring. Selecting the right strategy is one of the key areas of the game, it allows lower level players to compete without boost and drs being so critical. If everyone is on the same strategy it takes this element away.

I don't think this would make any difference to the top managers in competitive and well attended leagues. Many of them record a lot of data in spreadsheets outside of iGP. I imagine most would record temperature, weather conditions and the winning strategy as an absolute minimum. So it would only disadvantage the casual managers who don't record any information.

I agree in that case, it wouldnt affect them, but what if you're not in one of the top competitive leagues? The game is for everyone, not just the 'top' managers

Sorry, Mike I didn't make myself very clear.

I'm not talking about the top mangers in the game, I'm talking about the best managers in a league. If the devs turned off historic view of opposition strategy and they're serious about the game they will simply record basic information about the race which they can use at a later date. If you find one or two managers tend to dominate the league you're in it's possibly because they're taking notes, not because they're looking at last seasons results.

At the risk of stirring up an enormous off-topic debate, if you really want to keep race strategy a secret, maybe consider hiding the boost so nobody knows when you're using it or how much you have left. That would really mess with people's heads LOL.

I agree on all what you said Kevin, although taking notes and documenting past results takes effort.  I just find it slightly annoying that players can just look at a past race and copy a strategy that may have taken a bit of thought to put together and it takes little effort on their part. For the record I'm not complaining about anyone that does this, as all tools that you have to hand should be used etc. I just think it would make people think a bit more about their strategy instead of just copying...

You can copy my strat all you want....Copying doesn`t secure a win.  execution is everything... You and I can ran identical strat, but only one of us is coming out 1st place.  The manager that better execute will always have a better chance of winning regardless of strat.

Yes I agree with this too, but what if we raced together,  I copied your strategy, executed it better than you in the race and then beat you?

Then clearly you deserve to win.

There can only be one winner, we must accept that when engaging in any competitive multiplayer sports/competition. I managed to get 200 pts in a very competitive elite league without the aid of a win. I know you believe your start should be private, but there`s nothing to be gained by others knowing it.

One can also easily take a screen shot of the leader board with everyone`s strats on it...  Like Kevin also mentioned, there are various ways top players go about collecting needed data for every race.

My unsolicited advice to you would be to take the challenge and strive to beat it.

That's why i have everything sitting in one big spreadsheet. All the managers who join our leagues also get there welcome message and for those in the Rookies they get a helping hand with some settings. We want everyone fast and the close results are showing that its working also!
