I have asked for this to be real introduced. And name the people watchin so all knows who is and punish them if offensive language or what is against the code. However, not one response to it or a no or yes. Has been made. Do u the devs ever read the suggestions or comment pages. I call it ignorance.

As Peter said, I'd like to see being able to chat as a "guest" reintroduced with the player's name being displayed. This is how it used to be in the original iGP and it was fine, it was only when the change was made to display "guest" instead of the player's name that the problem really got out of hand. And that was always going happen, it's obvious that someone will be far more likely to say something stupid, offensive or unethical if no one will know who they are afterwards. It makes me question why that change was made in the first place, will need some insight from someone in the know I guess.

Hi Leo. I've discussed this with other managers and our collective recollection is that the Devs removed the manager name for guests in race chat because they had identified it was affecting the performance of the race viewer.

Is that the same as spectate? I use that to watch other races all the time. Though I can't chat and nobody can see that I am watching. The icon/button looking like en eye (Eye-con) at the [home] page.

I gather what is being said it to be able to chat again whilst watching the races. I used to go into my old league and have a chat with my mates from there every now and then. Yes it got abused by some and you couldn't tell who it was as they were a guest. It would be nice to see who is dropping in and have a chat with them sometimes. It can also help when trying to get leagues to merge or starting out a new league.

I too would like to see this re-introduced (with player names visible)

I feel the vast majority of players would use this function is a positive, social way to drop by and chat with friends in other leagues :)

With the players abusing this chat (and why the chat got removed in the first place) perhaps:

a) A straight up chat mute (applied from the host* in the live race viewer)
b) Removal from the live race viewer (by the host*) for the abusive player

could act as good features to deter and reduce such behaviors.

*Perhaps even include 2 other senior league members with the option to mute/kick abusive players, in the scenario that the Host is off for that day

Either way, it is a big shame that a few players have removed this feature for now.

If there really needs to be a difference between the players in the race and the guests, just put the word "*guest*" before the player's name/underline the name/anything. If you can change our names to guest and a bunch of random numbers, that should be easy.

If that's not enough, Peter's ideas sound great. Allowing players to perma-mute an account ingame would be perfect. Just have their messages pop up as "1 blocked message from X" or "X: ***blocked message***"

Interesting. I'm not really a programmer, but the fact that something that seems so simple could influence the race viewer that much is surprising and intriguing.

I'm not a programmer either, but I have it on good authority that every time a spectator logged into a live race the race viewer had to scan a huge database to retrieve the account details so that the name could be displayed and this was affecting performance for the managers who were actually racing.

So kevin does that mean that having more teams managers logged
at the race it also affects the games performance
