Objective/prize money

Who/what determines the objective before a race? Last two races have objective as finish 2nd or above. There is no way I can beat the top two in my league so for the last two races I lost money overall. Can I set the objective myself or is it the software?

It is done automatically based on your previous results and it adjusts itself automatically so if the target is too high and you are not getting there it will lower itself automatically.
