Hi guys
As far as of the mechanics of the game goes, the use of a CD for a specific number of races yields a number of design points in that specific area of design. This has been true for the past 24 seasons I have been playing.
This time around due to the short number of races (15) I chose to run 5 races with a CD strong in braking, thus should have yield 49 points in braking at the start of the season. Instead I only have 42 points of design for braking. Has there been a change in the way this works or is it an error of the game.?
Thanks
BEN CABRAL

I don't believe the CD next season dp has been changed. It's done on a race by race basis this season and yields results for the beginning of next season. So clearly if there are fewer races then the design will be lower.
If the CD is the same level as the Team / Manager they will generate next season dp as follows:
Strength = 3.75 per race
Standard = 2.5 per race
Weakness = 1.25 per race
So using a CD strong in braking for 5 races in a 15 race season yields (5 x 3.75) + (10 x 2.5) = 18.75 + 25 = 43.75 which rounds up to 44.
The fact that you only have 42 dp suggests that either your CD is a level lower than your Team or you used another CD for a couple of races who is weak in braking.

Thanks @kevin
I just realized it's not only braking, accekation is another area that was affected. I raced 6 races with a 4.5 star CD, that should have yielded 50 points, but instead I have 43 points for acceleration... This one is critically low..
By the way, my Braking CD is also 4.5 and after 5 races i only have 42 points to start the season and no, I don't use CD with weaknesses on the big 4.
There is something wrong here..
Thanks.

In my experience it is not only the star rating but also the level that determines CD effectiveness. Let's say you are L19, it is possible that a L19 and a L18 CD will both display to you as 4.5 stars, but the L19 will generate marginally more DP per race.
This is why I said that I assume you have a CD who is one level lower than your manager level which would explain only 42 dp in braking instead of the 44 I would have expected.
Also why do you think a 6 race CD should yield 50 dp in strength in a 15 race season? In a 17 race season I would expect 50 dp from 6 active races but in a shortened 15 race season this no longer holds true.
17 race season; (11 * 2.5) + (6 * 3.75) = 27.5 + 22.5 = 50
15 race season; (9 * 2.5) + (6 * 3.75) = 22.5 + 22.5 = 45
Again, the fact that you only have 43 dp for Acceleration instead of 45 suggests that one or more of your CDs is a lower level than your Team / Manager level.
I don't think anything is wrong other than my inability to explain the design concept properly because this post says exactly the same as my last post.

Hi Kevin
Thank you for the explanations. It makes sense.
As long as this affects everyone equally, I'm cool with it.
Thanks
