Recently I've noticed that the number of designers I need to upgrade a single component has shot up to huge amounts. At the end of last season, having just under a 100% component, I needed at most 15 designers to upgrade the next day. Hoever this season I am needing almost double the number of designers on a component that's not close to 100%, in order to have it complete in a reasonable amount of time and not sometime at the end of August. Has a change been made to how many designers are required per component upgrade?

Is that it 15? Even double as you say is little compared to mine, I need 40-45 with my components near 100%. Count yourself lucky. By the way do you have the test rig and wind tunnel, I don't yet (not at the required level) wondering how much of an impact that has?

yeah I have both.

It all depends on the car development percentage at the start of the season. If it's low, lets say 20%, you would need only a few designers for a new part. If its high, it can go up towards 40 and more.
So it's important to think about to which point you want to develop your next seasons car. You will also notice that starting with a higher percentage car will give lower percentage upgrades.

Grant - Do you mean your current car is 100% or next seasons?
My current car is around the 70-75% mark & I am requiring 45 designers+ to develop parts within 2 days...
If you are only needing 30 then I can't wait for my test rig!

Tjerk - Just to expand on your point a bit more
Do you mean that the Number of Designers needed & the % Improvement is locked in at the beginning of the season & doesn't change even if my current car improves significantly?
ie starting with a 20% means I need 20 designers & gain 8%
Once my car gets to 70% will I still only need 20 designers & gain 8% or will these figures change?

My understanding is that as the number of designers is linked to the percentage of the current car at that time - not at the season start.
This percentage is also linked to the rate of progress you make against either this or next season's car.

Kieron. Last season I developed next seasons car to 21%.
That's the car I'm now starting to develop. The first update it took 1 designer for each part and it gave me an update of 17%. For the next update I need 5 designers for a part and it probably will get me an update of 13-14%.
In my other team, with which I commented earlier, I started the season with a 65% car. It took me around 20-25 designers for the first update which was around 7 or 8%. Now I'm halfway the season and it costs me 37 designers for a 2% update.
So in short, the amount of designers needed for a part will increase and the development will decrease duiring the season. Starting low will give you a larger increase per development at first but you will also need less designers at the end of the season.

That was my understanding, I thought you had said something different. Thanks!
I'll carry on doing what I'm doing & wait with baited breath for level 8!!

Allright. The short explanation isn't always the best. :)
Grant Gordon medal 5000 11 years 116 days ago
Yeah, the issue I have is that the number of designers needed to produce the part in 2 days has suddenly shot up for me. So either there's been a patch which changed it, or there's a bug.
Grant Gordon medal 5000 11 years 116 days ago
I'm just going to post this here, since it's either a bug or an undocumented change.

From what you said in your first post, this is NOT a bug.
It is the way the game is designer, the higher your design components, the more dicklyesigners you need to produce an upgrade qu
Grant Gordon medal 5000 11 years 116 days ago
I'm well aware of how the game mechanics work. However as I said in my post, I have a lower percentage components than last season which is now requiring far more designers than I've ever needed in the past. So something has changed somewhere, either intentionally or because of a bug.

Grant I have consolidated your threads for ease of tracking.
I have looked at your account & the required designers is a bit high. Did you run a 100% car last season? Let me know.
If not, I will ask for this to be investigated

I'm having this thing too...i have 2 teams...both are 80 % car this season to start with....in this account i need 30-33 designers to get a upgrade and on my 2nd team i need 17-19 designers and i had around 40 % car last season to start with.....
