hello. it seems that during training a softer compound tyre is about 0,8 seconds qicker per lap. while in the race its not any quicker than a harder compound.
why is that?

its not the fuel load, i tested this with my prevous driver, both were same level, same health, same car and same fuel load. on was driving the SS other the S and the SS was barely any faster but tyres were wearing out 2x as fast

Hi Roald ;-)

With a harder compound tyre, you can utilise a higher push level in the races, reducing the stated time difference. The Practice laps (and Qualifying lap) shown are set under constant PL3 conditions.

once again fuel loads and what Peter said!

Using practice data to cross reference qualy and race data is futile.  There's very little relationship among them.

  • Practice is simply to get driver's preferred setup, fuel consumption/lap and tire ware/lap. That's it.... Lap times are 100% irrelevant.

  • Qualy is as random as playing the lottery.... not based on any data from your team.

  • Race data tells the only story there is to tell. And the only numbers that may match would be your FE and TE from practice laps.

I would work more with what Peter mentioned and complement it with Graeme's observation. That's bound to yield you better results.
