What did you try to do?
I extended my Technical Director's Contract to 46 races

What happened instead?
He decided to retire immediately after the extension "At the end of the season", now I can't get rid of him even though he has been on the bench for two seasons. Does he want to retire or not?

Did the problem happen while using wi-fi, mobile data, or both?
Wi-fi

Did the bug happen in the app, on PC, or both?
App

What is the model of your device?
android

What is the operating system?
Android

What is the version number of the operating system?
android 9

Can the bug be reproduced?
Probably.

It's not a bug, it's the way the game works and unfortunately you have found out the hard and expensive way.

The staff member only announces he or she is going to retire immediately AFTER you have just renewed their contract. There is no option to renew a contract for anything shorter than 50 races so you're either stuck with the staff member for all 50 races or you can sack them but you will be obliged to pay their wages for the remainder of the contract.

It's not such a big issue when your team is a high level because you can just use the staff member until the contract expires. But at a lower level, as you level up the staff member becomes less and less effective and quickly becomes a waste of money.

The learning point... Be very careful about extending the contract of an older staff member unless you're happy to retain them for all 50 races.

I will move the thread to "Help & Support".

Okay, so my thoughts on that are:
1. If they say they are going to retire at the end of the season, they should retire at the end of the season.
2. Who negotiates a new contract and immediately announces their retirement? You'd be sued for acting in bad faith.
3. The penalty is discriminatory.
4. Why isn't there an option to negotiate shorter extensions?
