Hey all, I'm reaching out to poke my way through all of your combined wonderful wisdom pools.

1) Track Evolution - I noted this was mentioned in the forum somewhere regarding Qualifying, but wondered if anyone can clarify the effect during the race. Having investigated previous race lap times it looks like it plays a big part of car pace, but wanted confirmation and best ways to negate in the early stages of he race, softer tires, lower fuel loads?

2) Supplier changes applied time frame - I just tried squeezing out a few tenths at Monaco, setting all Suppliers up with no bonus for Handling, then max handling bonus after 2 practice laps to compare times. No difference. Does this mean that practice laps aren't affected by the same parameters as Quali and Race, or that the supplier change isn't instantaneous or even applies to the next session/race?

3) I'm looking to try and understand track strengths and weaknesses, so with somewhere like Monaco, Handling and Downforce seem obvious strengths, but not all tracks are as 'obvious' what are peoples thoughts on this?

Totally looking forward to hearing your wise words, intriguing insights and mind blowing understandings!!

Very interesting questions, I'd really like to know more about those subjects, particulary nº2 and nº3.

I always thougt that suppliers affected the practice laps, in the case the stats are not maxed out, in Monaco putting all the bonus on handling it always makes laps a bit faster. I'd be shocked if this is not the way they worked and it was just a coincidence.

Besides the setup of Monaco that you say, in the other circuits I just go with guesses, for example:
I think in Bahrein you need to be high on Acceleration and Braking, same in Malasia.
In Spain I always put my desing points on handling, same in Singapore and Hungary.
I think in Brazil and Japan you need to have a good Aerodynamic desing.

I gave up years ago trying to use practice lap times to select suppliers or understand if I had allocated my design points effectively. As far as I can tell, supplier changes are instant. You can see this by first using suppliers that give a big negative in FE, run a practice lap and make note of fuel consumption. Then change suppliers to maximise FE and do the same again. You should see a difference in fuel usage, especially at the beginning of the season when the FE design attribute is low.

Unfortunately lap times are entirely different because the game simulates drivers making mistakes which means lap times are inconsistent. You can check this by doing five laps with ideal settings, leave the design alone and only use one tyre compound. You will have a range of times, sometimes up to three or four tenths between the fastest and slowest. In my opinion, with this level of inconsistency it is impossible to use practice laps to gauge the effectiveness of changing suppliers.
