It hasn't changed in how it works, you 'only' need to spend twice the points to get the same result as before, and start into season at a much worse fuel consumption. Also it's harder to justify increasing it as, usually, there's still room to spend those points on the big 4. So consumption went much higher because of that update, but that's not a problem in itself, more a matter of adapting to it.
so the fuel economy has become useless?
