Ok ok ok now I have your attention I know it’s said on here Multiple times it’s not “possible” to cheat but we have a new player in our league and they are dominating it (don’t have an issue with that)
They are crazy fast and winning some races by 30+ seconds, had a wet race 2 days ago and they was 30 seconds quicker then the rest of the field on the same strategy
They have won a couple of races by running on mediums?

Main reason of posting is I’ve been on the game a few years now in various leagues and never come across someone so quick

Anyone got any ideas?

Yes, he's clearly got his cars and drivers optimised and doesn't fit soft tyres on a circuit that requires full wets.

Regarding that wet race, Singapore the day before yesterday, his cars were 1-2 in practice, 1-2 in Qualifying and 1-2 in the race.

That's not the whole story, yes he won by about 30 seconds but the person who finished third qualified down in 14th so lost a lot of time (and possibly Boost) fighting his way through the field.

The team that should have given the eventual winner a hard time and would definitely have finished very close, maybe even challenging for the win came out of the pits for their second stint on soft tyres on a circuit with more than 3mm of standing water. That isn't a winning strategy, believe me I've been there, done it and got the T shirt LOL.

Seriously, there are some very strong managers in this game. They're not cheats they just understand very well how to develop a winning car, they are extremely good at managing the race and understand how different tyre compounds perform on different circuits. Medium tyres can work, as you have found out.

From the outside it's incredibly hard to analyse performance in general, but it mostly builds on 3 pillars:

  • Team performance, generally currently well seen in Qualification times, although FE might distort it somewhat as its effect on Qualification lap time is not necessarily the same as in the race, and the car matching the requirements of the strategy (FE mostly)

  • Strategy, including it matching the situation the own car finds itself in during the race, but also the car as it's not always possible to adapt it to the requirements of a strategy, or every stint

  • In race management, especially of Push Level according to the track, situation and, of course, tyre temperature. The effect of this varies a bit between tracks, on some you can make your cars fly and on others just leaving it constant makes almost no difference (as long as the tyre temperature still stays in the green), but maybe I have just failed in figuring those tracks out...

How can you say that with absolute certainty without actually being at the race? Anyway The player never meant to choose softs was just caught out by the confusing pot luck wet weather set up system

As for mediums working, a higher push level requires more fuel right? So Possibly negates what you get from the higher push?
Also Others tried mediums in that race and was noticeably slower then they was on softs

I didn’t expect anything different in the answer really usual buzz words used “strong” “optimised” whenever this comes up

I just thought instead of staff mocking managers they might actually help the managers improve and in turn improve the game

No wonder we never seem to have new players join this game and actually stay

Let me give you some help as requested

1) don’t use the word cheating in thread subjects
2) accept the other manager is faster
3) ask that manager how he/she did it, as you point out we were not there, we don’t know the whole picture
4) adapt and become faster

In what way was I mocking you? I apologise if that's what you thought, it certainly wasn't intended.

All players have the same information available to them. Some have the time / dedication to create multiple accounts, sometimes running them in private test leagues where they try many approaches to determine what is and what isn't important.

IMO the game is much more complex than most people give it credit for. With so many variables that need to be optimised to get the best results and without understanding precisely how you play the game and manage your races how could I possibly give you advice on improving?

The very best managers (not me) are not likely to give away information as to what makes them so good, why would they?

You asked about the wet race and I answered. The eventual winner only won by such a large margin because his main challenger made a mistake by fitting soft tyres in the first pit stop. The person who finished third was 30 seconds behind because of his poor grid position which presumably meant he was held up behind slower cars and had to use Boost to fight his way through the field.

Why ask the question "Any Ideas?" if you're simply going to discount responses on the grounds the person responding didn't watch the race.

In certain circumstances at certain circuits Mediums can be an effective tyre. If you think otherwise that is your prerogative.

Enjoy you racing.

Even if we'd be staff, the truth is that even the developers of games are usually not amongst the best players as even though they exactly know the workings of their game they usually lack the time and thus experience to work out the perfect application.

We mods are selected from experienced players, ones that try to stay up-to-date with the game with the information we are able to collect, but while that means we usually do have a decent general idea of the workings it also not necessarily means we're the best in their application.

I'm with Kevin here, I'm not among the very best managers. I do know what can be done in this game by meticulously analyzing tracks, strategies (there's a nice interview on autosport.com of Peter Man how he prepared for the AOR streamed races and his thought processes) and apply that knowledge, but myself I do it casually, I spend 5-10 minutes setting up and preparing the race using my experience feeding my intuition, but I don't replay possible races in my head with several strategies like an iGP Ross Brawn, or run hours of tests trying to figure out the very best car for the tracks. Even if I did, as a mod I'd have a bad feeling publishing that kind of information and devaluing all the time spent of players putting in the effort. It's up to them to decide to do it, and their right to keep it to themselves.
