At 06:00 GMT (in approximately 6.5 hours) we will be performing a further doubling of the power of the web server in anticipation of high demand on Sunday. As many of you know, the web server was already upgraded this week, but I have been monitoring things closely since and anticipate still further capacity is required, particularly on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Cumulatively this means we're running on hardware 4-5 times more powerful than what we were using this time last week. This next upgrade goes beyond what we need, and will provide a healthy cushion / safety net meaning surges in demand shouldn't impact the quality of the service, particularly on the websites. This will result in an even more responsive experience browsing iGP Manager (faster loading times). It may slightly reduce lag in the viewer in some instances, though it is not intended as a fix for that. It will further solidify service stability in general, which was greatly improved after the first upgrade this week and it has demonstrably increased simulator stability ("connection problem" being one thing we are all gladly seeing less of).
The upgrade should require roughly 15 minutes of downtime as we reboot the server and initiate the new hardware.
