On that note, it would be nice if the button lit up when DRS was active if you're in Live Timing. Automatic usage is fine.
Not a silly idea either ;)
Totally agree and if you just got to do proper KERS usage strategy for getting drivers to use their KERS tactically for getting DRS zones maximally advantaged. That'd be advanced user experience, but could make racing more automated and AFK racing more competetive.
I would like to do pre-race strategies like:
Driver no. 1 will push hard first 2 laps of stint -> then low push -> last lap push hard.
It could also help, if you could separately set first and last lap of stint push level and middle stint push levels.
Then you could also choose between KERS strategies like:
Option 1: Use KERS for overtaking, when gap is < for example 0.4 seconds (time = manual input value)
Option 2: Use KERS for trying to get DRS zones, when driver is ahead less than 1.5 seconds (manual input value) ahead after first sector of lap.
Option 3: Use all KERS on lap __ = (manual input value)
for example and of course driver wouldn't use KERS anymore, when all KERS have been used.
I think, it would just be wicked and I could make potent pre-race strategies, then put iGP on my huge TV screen, pop my pop corns and just enjoy the race, without worrying about getting KERS and DRS opportunities maximized every day.
Allthough I know, if I just be fast enough, I could manage to do just that too, just if I wouldn't need KERS and DRS help. So far with level 9 and league as competetive, that I'm participating I just think, that won't happen any time soon. :D
But for the original topic, I totally won't want to push DRS button everytime one of my drivers hit the DRS zone less than 1.0 seconds gap. It must be automatic.
Getting additional data, like real time gap to cars previous and next in racing order to the racing UI (maybe hundred of second accuracy even), would also be cool. Then you would be more able to fulfill your KERS system potential speedwise thinking for complete race pace and that would make gaming experience just little more pleasant to my point of view.
I find it just frustrating that, I don't know if I'm in DRS zone or not and I have to stress out and make last measurement with my eyes and it's not easy, when distances between cars are changing for example depending in are they in how fast corner or in straight. Alltogether I think clearer indicator of are you in DRS zone or not in sector previous to DRS area would make racing more comfortable.
With that said.. I think the DRS light should be lighted, when you are in less than 1 second gap to previous driver, not when DRS is open and that light could be on whole lap or just in the section of lap, where DRS area is.
