Solved
I was qualified on Intermediate Wets but that was swapped out for the wets I originally opted for through the race strategy tab.

What did you try to do?
I did my strategy like usual. Since it was 3.7mm of rain I put on wets for all my stints.

What happened instead?
I comeback after 5 minutes hoping for a nice qualifying to see, surprisingly, I had been qualified on intermediate wets rather than wets. I go back to the setup tab to check and I had in fact chosen wets rather than intermediate wets for my stints. I go in the race and I pit first lap to switch to wets but the tires switched before I pit so I am a bit confused to why I was qualified on intermediate wets.

How did you set the advanced strategy?

The reason I ask is because I'm taking a wild guess thinking it may have been Inters above 0 mm. If this is the case then what happened is that because it was raining the A.S. kicked in and you got your A.S. tyre choice (Inters) instead of your main strategy stint 1 (Wets).

It wouldn't have fixed your poor qualifying result but you should have been able to switch to Wet tyres on the grid rather than wasting time with an extra pit stop.

Yh my advanced strategy is exactly as you described. I thought it only took changed if you weren't online(which I was) to do so. I managed to change my tyres to wets but I am pretty disappointed that I got that poor qualifying.

Hi Samander.

You are correct, the advanced strategy is disabled as soon as you launch the race viewer. Unfortunately it isn't possible to be on-line for the qualifying session so the A.S. is what controls the tyre choice if it is raining and/or the circuit is wet.

You need to be very careful with the strategy settings because they aren't intuitive and even some experienced managers get it horribly wrong... I know I have on occasions.

I don't think this is a bug, more a misunderstanding of how A.S. works.

Sorry you had to find out the hard way

Okay no problem. Better I find out now than later. My result wasn't half bad so I am not too fussed.
Better I find out now rather than a crucial stage in my season
